Has anyone stayed here lately? We stayed four years ago and were not very impressed. While the rooms weren't horrible, we had a few issues with a sticky bathroom door (DS had to push from the inside while I pulled from the outside to get the door open), ants around the front door, a dingy (but not filthy) shower.

Now that it's been renovated, I'm wondering if the rooms are nicer and worth another try? Also, I see that they now have a family suite with one king and two queen beds. This would be a perfect configuration for us and our two adult sons. There aren't any photos of this room on the website. Has anyone stayed in one? Are they a nice size and worth $203 a night? Thanks!

I'm going to paste a reply I made to this question last month (Oct 8):

We stayed there for 3 nights last weekend (Sat-Tues). In that time, we moved 3 times! The first night, there was some horrendous screeching metal sound that woke us periodically throughout the night; I think it was something to do with the A/C. There was also a broken ice machine right outside our door. We were in a 2-king room, which are all located at the very back of the property. The pictures looked nothing like the actual room, which was much smaller and quite dingy. There was no patio or balcony as pictured, either, and we were told none of the double kings have those so not sure why we were told we'd get one. Not a big deal, but I value honesty when dealing with a business. There were 4 of us, all women, and the amenities were adequate. The front desk staff was very nice and helped us with our issues. However, when we had to move rooms after the first night, the first desk person told us we could upgrade to a better room for $20/night, and that it would be huge and have a patio area. She specifically said that you could put another king bed in it because it was so big. Turned out that there was no patio, the room was the same size, and the thing that increased the price $20/night was an extra sink; the vanity was the same size but it had 2 sinks instead of 1. She had told us we'd have an extra vanity outside the bathroom, but that information was incorrect as well.

Just telling you to be careful if you're considering a deluxe over a standard room --ask what you get for the extra cost, because they admitted to us when we went to the desk to say we hadn't been given the bigger room that the only difference between the std and del is the extra sink. Not worth $20/night! We were told those were the only choices with a double king room, but I'm not sure that's true. The second room was on the parking lot at the side of the building and shared a wall with a mass of A/C units so we declined that one. They finally put us in a 2nd floor room that was exactly the same but not next to the A/C units and on the street. They also took off the extra $20/night charge.

The staff worked with us and were very nice, but the hotel is old, and even the renovation can't fix the issues with it. The beds were comfortable and we liked the lobby but we won't go back. We paid $89/night, which became $113/night after taxes and fees (plus another $10/night to park your car). It's a very decent price but there were just too many issues and we actually were surprised to learn that our room had been renovated because it was a pretty slap-dash job. The carpeting looked old, floor tiles didn't match, there were odd patches of putty and so on. I stayed at the Desert Inn for the same price last month and would much prefer to stay there.

I don't know anything about the family suite, but the rooms located near the front of the property looked far nicer. However, as of last month, there was a lot of construction going on with the renovations so keep that in mind.

We used to stay here but no more. Since its new owner, they charge more for the same old rooms.
We have yet to get a refurbished one, maybe they are all updated now but even so I doubt if their
value matches what you get staying at other Harbor hotels. We have now stayed at the Del Sol
and the Ramada and both were about the same price as the Anaheim Hotel with much nicer rooms
and amenities.

Check recent pics on TripAdvisor. Looks like it's still a dive despite renovations. FWIW that's the only Harbor hotel we've stayed at that had me calling other hotels trying to change over. Granted that was about four yrs ago but it was super gross, and prices recently had me double checking but traveler pics reinforce the NO.

We have a room booked here for January. Stayed in 2009 and swore never to go back.

Have been keeping an eye on reviews and unfortunately they do not seem to be improving. When we contacted the hotel we were told all rooms were to be refurbished by September. So for poor reviews to still be occurring we are not sold on our choice.

Our biggest concern Is the cleanliness of the bathrooms. Unfortunately many reviews suggest that the bathrooms may not have been renovated to a high standard.

Why they don't tear down this resort and build a new hotel? With the prices they hotels are charging along Harbor and the good location of this property you would think it would be a no brainer.

Thanks for the replies. I suspected it still wouldn't be a good place to stay, but thought I would ask for recent experiences. We also have reservations at the Homewood down the street. I think that's where we'll stay.
