Hi!

Has anyone stayed at the Anaheim Hilton before? I may be planning a trip for Oct or Dec but wanted to see how this hotel is? I would usually prefer the Tropicana Inn or something right across the street from the DL but I have earned enough points with my Hilton Honors that I might as well take the free night stays!!!

Thanks for your input!

I've seen some not so great reviews about the Hilton, in particular pertaining to it's decor. However, we actually liked the decor of the rooms (sure it's a little dated, but it's still nice), and enjoyed the Hilton a lot.

Pros:
*Wonderful park views (if you get a park view room from an upper floor).
*Great views of fireworks
*Awesome room service w/great food
*Nice pool and hot tubs'
*clean rooms (at least our room was spotless and kept that way when we were there)

Cons:
*Sometimes you have to wait a bit for an elevator (lots of conventioners there)
*It's not really what I would consider walking distance to the parks (at least with kids in tow).
*The parking garage fee bugged me for some reason.
*The breakfast buffet was mediocre at best (and not the best service either).
*The rooms are just a tad on the small side.

We stayed there. We thought it would be a nice hotel. The lobby gave a great impression, however, when we got to our room, we thought we had stepped into the Motel 6. The bathroom was teeny tiny, with brown grout all over the tiny tiles on the walls and on the floor. The tiles were so soft that brown liquid oozed out of them. We had to lay down towels before stepping into the bathroom. A vent over the bathtub dripped water so when we were in the tub, there was this annoying drip coming down on us. The "Disney View" that we paid for required us to crane our necks way to the left to actually see a slight view of Disney.

When we tried to get ourselves moved out of this room, we were told the hotel was full, that all the rooms are the same, and then we got a very indifferent look. Customer service was just not helpful. We told ourselves that it wouldn't matter because we were only there to sleep late at night.

Now, I do hear that the hotel is renovating now. Some floors are done and some reviews on Tripadvisor are actually good (written by those who got the renovated rooms of course). You may luck out and get a nicely reno-ed room.

There's a Doubletree Guest Suites close by that consistently gets great reviews. Check it out!

I stayed there a few years ago, thank you Priceline! Have to agree, it needed renovations when we were there. Dismal decor, not very clean. Staff do not cater to the DL crowd at all. Wait for elevator was sometimes long.

We LOVED the hot tubs, they have several large hot tubs on top of individual stone dias. Good and hot soak at the end of a long DL day was heavenly. :cloud9:

We had a Disney view, could watch fireworks and just make out Tinkerbell doing her thing. Better view of DCA than of DL.

We walked to the park in the morning, stopping across Harbor Blvd at a fruit/vegetable stand or further down Harbor at a 7-11 for drinks/ snacks.
Taking ART back to the hotel.
The Marriot, across from the Hilton, has a Pizza Hut and a Starbucks in the lobby.

I've read that it is possible to walk thru the Convention Center walkways, cross the side street and enter DL (Lion King) parking lot, taking the parking tram from there. :confused3

Thank you all for your responses and reviews!!!!! I will keep an eye out on tripadvisor for more reviews and if we decided to book I will book well in advance and make sure to request a newly renovated room. I was only thinking about this place because I have earned Hilton Honor points so it would save us a ton of money and maybe the only way for us to go. I am trying to earn our next trip by earning points and a doing a couple of gpt sites.

Thanks again!!!!!!

P.S. I am really grossed out about the brown stuff oozing from the grout in the tiles! :scared:
