We will be staying at the Grand Californian in May and thought about seeing what the Anaheim Garden Walk has to offer. Is it within walking distance from the Grand and if so which way do we go. Any recommendations on what to see and do at the Walk would be greatly appreciated.

We went to the Garden Walk last February and it was DEAD! Not really that exciting at all.. I think it is a great little area and could be a nice little spot, but as of then ..the restaurants were really the only things going. Not sure if anything has changed since then (that was over a year ago) but based on our last experience ..it was just "ehh" :/

There's some restaurants there and some overpriced stores. Not sure if there is really anything to see and do. I think there might be a bowling alley... Probably easiest to get there by going out the main entrance of the hotel, make a left on Disneyland Drive then left on Katella for a block and a half. I think it's a little over 1 mile.

Thanks for the insight. I would rather hang out at DTD and walk over to the Disneyland Hotel.

A bowling alley would be nice if it is like the one at Disney Springs a.k.a Downtown Disney called Splitsville at Walt Disney World. But not really interested in overprices stores.. would rather shop in the parks or at DTD. But if we do decide to walk it, your instructions are helpful. Thank you.

There's a Geeky Mama shop there with some very cool Disney, anime, fantasy, and sci-fi items. It really is very dead, though. House of Blues has opened and there is supposed to be a gym there

Definitely! That's what we usually do :) We too stay at the Grand Californian and explore the DLH and DTD..the one time we ventured out we weren't too thrilled. We're satisfied staying in the Disney bubble :)

Yes, this is the way we went when we walked there from the Grand. It took forever and a day to get there though.. even though I agree and think it is the easiest way to go! ANd then you have to walk back... oy. Because there is nothing really there... to us it's just not worth the walk.

There have been various problems, largely economically related, with the GardenWalk area ever since it was built.

Now that House of Blues have opened there, I think the area may be in for quite a revival, but time will tell on whether this will work.

They are actually building a Splitsville (or some other bowling alley - but I think it's a splitsville) in Downtown Disney where the House of Blues used to be! The House of Blues was relocated to a much larger venue at the Garden Walk funnily enough.

We have only gone there once to eat at Fire & Ice grill and like others have said there's not much going on there. The food was ok but I also would prefer to hang out in DTD.

Agree with the others. Not worth it. THe Outlets at Orange on the other hand (you would need to uber) has lots of great things. I have been going to Disney for years and never made it there until the last trip. I am planning on going there on the saturday my passes are blocked on my next trip.

They used to have a movie theater at the Anaheim Garden Walk. Now that it's gone, I'm sad. It was close to the Harbor Blvd hotels area.

The Outlets at Orange was dead too. Maybe it was the time or year I went? But the shops were expensive. :(

Skip it. The place is dead and the restaurants aren't anything special. Only reason our family goes there is our friends who live in Costa Mesa like to see us and it is easy for them to get in/out of the Gardenwalk.

No movie theatre.. that is sad.. we had planned on that during our 'down' day from the parks mid week. .. oh well, I guess we will hang out by the pool and DTD area. Thanks for the heads-up

There is a movie theater in DTD, just not in the Garden Walk, so you can still catch a flick. I'm sad that's the Garden Walk one is gone, too-- I saw the final Harry Potter movie there at midnight with friends as part of a last HP hurrah trip. Of course, that was before Fantastic Beasts became a thing. . .

The DTD theater is a bit more busy. And some might say it's expensive? Hmm. Is that true? Also, it's a bit of a walk compared to the one on Harbor.
I guess I will skip going to the movies while at DLR. :(
