We have tickets to the Blue Jays game on July 15th  .

There's a package currently available at the Delta Chelsea via Jaunt.ca that's a very good deal (2 nights accomodations, parking both days, daily breakfast, pizza and drinks, for $318). We have stayed at many properties in the downtown area (Westin Harbour Castle, Residence Inn, Comfort Suites near the Eaton Centre, and the Ramada on Jarvis, to name a few), but never at the Delta Chelsea.

Would you say that it is walkable to the Rogers Centre from the hotel?

I was hoping to get a hotel at a property closer to the stadium (to avoid us having to park on game day) but holy moly, prices are terrible.

The Jaunt offer has to be purchased this weekend, so any insight you can provide (quickly :lmao:) woudl be great!

I LOVE the Chelsea, but it would be quite the hike to get to the Rogers Centre form there. Maybe you can call the hotel directly and ask them? There is a subway station right across Gerard Street from the hotel that would be a much easier way to get down the game.

it would be about 45 minute walk -- but 5 minutes on the subway.

I'm not sure if this is still available but the TTC used to offer a family day pass. If they do, it will be much cheaper than paying one way cash fares.

they do - $10.50 a day now I think. It's only good for families on weekends and holidays otherwise it's single rider.

side note - I was at the Elmwood spa last weekend (a few steps away from the D.C.) and popped into their market restaurant in the lobby and was surprised how good their feta bruchetta was. Delicious!

Hi Gina,

I hope you have a great visit. We'll be at the game on Saturday!

If you have selected the Delta Chelsea for your accommodation, it's a great choice. It is a large hotel, and can be filled with lots of kids due to promotions, but the location can't be beat. You're right at the corner of Yonge and Elm -- a two-block walk to the Dundas subway stop at the Sears end of the Eaton Centre. As a PP noted, I would get the family pass. One trip to the game and back and you have your money's worth. (You also don't need to worry about transfers when you hop onto the streetcar.)

We lived in a condo on Elm for awhile, and loved it there. I can recommend at terrific Italian place to eat: Donatello. The food is wonderful and the service is exceptional. Love the outdoor patio atmosphere that you will find at this time of year.

And finally, thank you for your trip report from last year to Universal. It was the inspiration we needed to step away from WDW. We are planning to stay onsite for one night to get that extra jump on time at Harry Potter. Then it's back to the World for us!

Cheers, and have a great weekend in Toronto.

We did decide to book the Delta Chelsea. Reservations are in place and we will be there in July :cool1: .

Not sure if we will use the TTC or not. We are small-town folks and not so good at figuring out the logistics of public transportation :upsidedow . I can see us getting on the subway en route to the Rogers Centre and ending up in Mississauga!! :lmao: We can always drive over to the stadium if need be.

Thank you for the kind comments about my trip report :goodvibes . Sure hope you have a great time at the Universal parks. You will love the front-of-the-line access that you get with your onsite hotel stay. Sure spoils you, though, for standing in lines on the rest of your vacation!!!! :scratchin Spoiled in a good way, though.....a VERY good way! :thumbsup2

Getting from the Delta Chelsea to Rogers Centre by TTC is really very easy. It's one subway straight down to Union Station, and there are signs from there to get you to Rogers Centre. If you're not comfortable with transit, then I think the walk is doable. If you're able-bodied adults, I'd bet you could be there in 1/2 an hour or so.

Good to know! We are all "able bodied" (I was going to say physically fit but then decided against it :lmao:) so a half hour walk is completely workable.

Nice to have options either way. Thanks for all the great advice!
