On another Thread, Mnrlred confirmed biometric scans are only linked to tickets. MagicBands do not directly link to biometric scans.

You can allow a "new" person to use your MagicBands by doing a few simple steps:

- EDIT your info in the MDE account to "become" the "new" person (remove credit card info, change name, birthdate, etc.) before giving the MagicBand and MDE info to the "new" person/family
- Link a new ticket to the EDITED MDE that has the MagicBand linked to it
- add a new biometric scan at the Entrance Tapstile because there isn't one associated with the new ticket media whether it's been pre-purchased and linked for FPs or newly purchased at the Park
- use the old MagicBand without having to purchase a new one

I can see where this would save money especially when Character MagicBands are involved. There would be no need to keep purchasing a $25-30 MagicBand if you are basically adding new ticket media to an MDE account and the biometric scan syncs it to that new person. - See more at: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3373592&page=2#sthash.UHAOudYV.dpuf

But then you would need to make a new profile for yourself, no? You would, essentially, be giving your whole account to someone else. I have several MBs attached to my account so if I were to do as you suggest I would be giving all of my MBs to this new person.

IMO, this is not at all worth the hassle for something that you can buy for $12 in the parks. Only the special MBs cost $25-30.

If the "new" person/family is staying offsite, it does save them money. Look at all the people making and canceling Throwaway Rooms just to get MagicBands.

It only takes a few seconds to delete credit card info and change names as well as create a new password.

When the person or family completes their vacation, you can go back in and Edit the info and then do what Disney states as "deactivating" that MagicBand. The MagicBand will no longer be able to link any info to your MDE account. If that MagicBand were in the Park after "deactivation," it can still be read as it passes by a reader on a ride, but, the info doesn't get sent to your MDE account.

This info is basically for people who want to "give" their MagicBands for others to use. A few seconds of time isn't much to allow someone to save some money. If I had paid $30 for the SW graphic MagicBand, I wouldn't mind allowing a SW fan/family member to use my band during a park visit. My MDE now is set up for Hiro Hero... took only a few seconds to change everyone's name in my MDE account.

Nope, don't get it. You are giving them total access to your profile to save $50 for a family of 4? They now have access to all your bands and they have to book their FP+ through your MDE and their dining and their MM and then you take it back? Disney is expensive. $50 is a small price to pay and it is not even required. They can use regular tickets. And they don't have their own MDE, so when/if they go again they have to create one or keep mooching off yours. I see no value in it. :confused3

And BTW the reason people book throw away rooms is not for the bands primarily but the 60 day booking window.

I think they are making throwaway room ressies to be able to book FP+ at 60 days rather than 30, not just for a $12 Magic Band.

Dining doesn't have to be booked through an MDE account. Any person can book dining via an email address.

People who would not be using their MDE account again probably wouldn't mind "gifting" MagicBands to someone else. After you have completed a trip, your MDE account is basically empty and all info can be edited.

There are quite a few people on the Throwaway Room Thread who are booking more than one Throwaway Room per visit just to acquire a second set of MagicBands to utilize SDFPs. They keep one room reservation for the 60-day window for booking FPs and then cancel the second after their bands have shipped. Some may even be canceling the first booking after their FPs are booked and their MBs have shipped if they don't care about EMH or parking.

I do not believe anyone ought to give full and total access to their profile to anyone but maybe close relatives. Even then it could be an issue. But if they want to, and their profile is completely empty and you will never ever use it again for anything, then you can go through these convolutions if you wish to have someone else use your band, when they could just purchase their own for 12 bucks.

That app sharing thing, that's kind of shady.

Makira, no one appears to be discussing app sharing.

The only "convolution" is editing info which takes a few seconds. Because you have an AP this will never apply to you because your AP's entitlements are always active - you'll never have an "empty" MDE with activated MagicBands.
