Hello everyone,

My father was born in Ipswich, England in 1938 and moved to America in 1962. In September of this year he had a mild stroke. All of a sudden, he is thinking that he might have left some money behind in England in some kind of insurance fund with the post office or a bank account.

I have looked through UK government websites for him to see if there is some kind of "unclaimed funds" or "lost bank account" section to look through. The State of Connecticut, where he lives now, has one. (If you left money alone in a bank for over 5 years it gets sent to the state and they publish a list of the people's names that are on the list and where to go to claim the funds.) Does the UK have anything like that?

I know at one point there was a department in the government that looked for relatives of people who had died and left an estate behind. My Grandmother found her sister that was lost in WWII that way, unfortunatley it was 7 years after she passed.

If anyone knows anywhere to look please post a reply. Thanks very much in advance!! :teeth:
