An Idea For Epcot

I was just thinking that how un-Canadian for there not to be a Tim Horton's in the Canadian pavillion.

This comes up every now and again and while I couldn't agree more, chances are it will never happen. Nestle has an exclusivity deal with Disney for coffee on Disney grounds.
These exclusivity deals are, more often than not, the reason you can't find whatever it is you're looking for in a grocery store. Companies pay MILLIONS of dollars to lock the competition out. I worked for a grocery store than only sold Coke for three years, no Pepsi. You can't imagine how much money that cost Coke.

Now, that said, I can't for the life of me understand why there are no Tim Horton's in Florida. With the number of snowbirds, anybody opening up a franchise in, say, Destin, would OWN Destin in short order.

I am sure that is just wishful thinking, but was listening to the podcast on how to improve the food in the American pavillion. Kinda got me thinking what was missing in "Canada".

Universal does use Starbucks pods in their rooms in the Keurig machines.

Originally I wasn't going to comment, since this topic was done to death a couple of months ago, BUT...:lmao: I will anyway.

Not sure the Nestle sponsorship deal would necessarily preclude getting Timmy's into the Canadian pavilion. You already can purchase non-Nestle coffees in some areas of WDW. If you go over to allears.net they have a list that tells you which resorts and where in each park you can get decent (non-Nestle) coffee. So I think it could be done. But it would probably require a great deal of good will (think $$$$$$) on the part of the Tim Hortons corp. in order to do it.

I do agree with Ken Breadbox about being surprised that Tims hasn't invaded Florida yet, since it has a built-in following (at least in the winter months). But they've been very cautious with their invasion (er, I mean expansion) plans into the US. And rightly so, given the current economic situation. Maybe Florida and Arizona (for the western snowbirds) are on the horizon!

Hockeymom: re the Starbucks pods at Universal: I've seen reports very recently that the Disney resorts are switching over to single cup Keurig style coffee makers now. But they'll most likely still be Nestle, unfortunately.

OOOPS, sorry to revisit an old topic. With these boards, it is easy to miss them sometimes.

Hey, don't be sorry - if topics weren't brought up again, then there would be no reason to have a Disney Community,

There would just be a page of FAQ's, and it would look like this:

- How often do buses run, I have a morning ADR and don't want to miss it.
- Can I park at DTD and take the bus to the parks?
- Can I just add an extra day to my MWY pass, and not use Park Hoppers?
- If I use the child swap pass, what if I don't like the kid I end up with?
- I am staying at POP, where do I change into my bathing suit when using the pool at AKL?
- How much do fastpasses cost?
and finally
- WHO WANT'S TO DO A PHOTOPASS SHARE?

on a serious note...

I do think Tim Horton's would be a great idea, but I also have heard the "Coke/Nestle contract" excuse for some time now, but as mentioned, you can get other coffee elsewhere at Disney, particularly at Kona Cafe at the Poly.
I do think putting a Tim Horton location in Epcot would definitely increase Park Hopper sales - if only from Canadians only... ;)

I wish there were a Tim Horton's in Florida, even more so in EPCOT. I would go for the Iced Capps! I always grab one just before the border in Woodstock to get my fix on before we go on vacation.

Just OT, I really wish they would get new outfits for the Canadians at EPCOT. They make us look like a bunch of lumber jacks!

Here is another idea for Epcot, or more specifically the Canadian movie at Epcot, how about putting some Native people in the movie?? Just sayin, there are totem poles outside and hokey Native souviners inside, but no Natives in the movie! :confused3.
