an idea - 2 days on Castaway Cay

After reading many Western cruise reports it seems to me that there are many cruisers that would like to see Key West dropped. A day at C.C. at the beginning and at the end of the Western would be perfect.

Maybe they could offer it every other week.

We were just on the 11/08/03 Western cruise. My DH's birthday was on 11/07, so as a birthday present for him we all went on a private charter fishing excusion for 4 hrs while at Key West (he booked it over the internet). We all had a wonderful time and caught TONS of fish (and the boat picked us up in the dock right by the Disney cruise ship!!). We did walk around Key West for a while prior to our 1:30 P.M. excursion, and we were all wondering why DCL stops at Key West. First of all, it's not very kid-friendly (or family-friendly). Second, it's not what we consider an "exotic" location (it's like the ship docking in Miami!!) Our family would love to visit the Florida Keys for a vacation, but we would not choose to include the city of Key West in that trip. Therefore, we think the Western cruise should be Castaway Cay-Grand Caymen-Cozumel (or maybe an alternative for Cozumel)-then a return trip to Castaway Cay!

Bugs??? Very interesting, I've never heard that. I can't imagine the bugs are worse than any other island that now has resorts. I guess what I'm saying is that if Disney really wanted a resort there, the bugs could "magically disappear." And it is interesting that a Disney Carribean and/or Mexican resort hasn't been done yet. I know they would be very popular destinations. As an example...a kid friendly all inclusive resort in Aruba? Sounds good to me. And if there's money to be made, the flys go away.

Personally, I think it would be a blast to stay in port overnight at CC, have several bon fires going...
