An Evil Queen's African Safari

I talked to Ken briefly today as he was getting ready to hit the buffet on the ship...

"I'm too full from breakfast at the Lodge to even think about this buffet....."

I've had that feeling at WDW before. Akershus for breakfast and Le Cellier for Dinner I want to be sick I was sooooooo full.

Great reports, loved the bathroom story :lmao:

Pop down to the desk in the lounge and ask if it would be OK to Scotch tape a bunch of crap to the outside of your room door. ;)

I have heard that it is all good. :thumbsup2 kidding! :goodvibes

I am glad to hear the Plaza is good. We are going to try it for the 1st time in Nov.

We like the Plaza. It is great for lunch, or for dinner before MNSSHP or MVMCP if you can't get an ADR for Crystal Palace. Hopefully the construction is finished. It is a small venue anyway, and in June it was about half it's normal size. I am not clear on what they were doing to it - hopefully making it BIGGER!

Construction was still going on, as the front windows are boarded up (on the inside at least.

Home and getting caught up. I will update this and post some pictures (as soon as I download them and send them over to whatever program that is I use to post them here).

I think I left my brain on Castaway Cay.

Here we go. I downloaded a few pics

Here was the view from our balcony over looking the Sunset Savannah

As you can tell I love to cut up for the photopass camera

Me as an extra chosen for the Indy stunt show. My room-mate didn’t know how to work my camera very well, of course I did leave it in non-flash mode. But don’t tell anyone.

Day 5:
Sunrise and Sail

We got up “early” (actually at my usual time to leave for work) to head to the Sunrise Safari that is only offered to guests staying at the concierge level at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.
We met our guide and headed over to the backstage area of Animal Kingdom via bus. The backstage area is huge. They provide bikes for CMs to use to get to their work locations from back parkinglot.
I really liked this tour, they safari vechile went slow and actually stopped so that we could stand up to take photos:

As well as a lion (laying) hahahahahah
After about an hour or so out on the safari, we headed over to Pizzafari where they had a buffet laid out for us

After breakfast we headed back to the Lodge to check out and head to Port Canaveral for our cruise.

Thanks for sharing your trip. It sounds like it was fun.

Cruise: Night 1
We board the ship and headed to Parrot Cay for the lunch buffet while our room was being prepared. We didn’t eat much as we were still stuffed from the Sunrise Safari buffet. When we could we headed to the room, and after unpacking we showed Daniel around the ship, and we were back to the room to take a quick nap before the Life Boat Drill.
After the drill it was off to the Adventures Away party and then to the front of the ship to watch as we headed out to sea.
The show tonight was the “Golden Mickeys” which is my favorite show on the ship. What a mistake this was, apparently just like the parks on this trip, we were the only English speaking people in the theatre as well. A very loud, rude family sat behind us and I didn’t really have a problem with the kids being excited as that is a given. But it was the mom that was so loud during the show. We kept turning around and they so were not getting a clue.
After the show we walked the top deck till it was time to head to Animators Palate for dinner. We were worried at first as we got to the table and saw a kid’s menu there. OH NO, NOT A KID…. Our table mates were some nice folk. They surprised their daughter for her 8th birthday with a dinner at Cinderella’s Royal Table and then the cruise.
Animators Palate isn’t my favorite restaurant on the ship, but at least our Assistant Waiter was cute, Arnaud from France. Our waiter Cheekopong from Thailand, was nice but a bit slow. We were always the last table out every night, and we always had to have dessert after the mini “shows” each evening which lead most of us to not get dessert.
After dinner, we all headed to bed as it was a long day that started with the Safari.

Cruise Day/Night 2:

Woke up, to see the Port of Nassau out my window. We grabbed a quick bite to eat at Beach Blanket Buffet and had some time to kill before out excursion headed out. We headed down to Diversions and played a round of Jenga using really large wooden blocks.
When it was time we checked in for our excursion over to Atlantis and followed our paddle of power to the port and to our bus.

Atlantis was pretty, and I loved the whole mythos of the dig site for the aquariums. Not sure that just the aquarium tour was worth the $55, as we have a larger aquarium here in Atlanta, but again I really enjoyed the architecture and the mythos. We gambled briefly, and I went on the great bathroom hunt as it seemed they had every men’s room closed at the same time for cleaning. As it was getting time to be lunch we headed back to the ship as the prices on Paradise Island can be expensive.

Before we reboarded the ship we headed down to the straw market to show Daniel what it was like, and I got a rum cake at Tortugas. We boarded the ship, changed into our bathing suits, grabbed a quick bite to eat on Deck 9, and then headed to the Adult pool.

After hanging out at the pool for a bit we changed and headed back down to play some bingo, and some board games in Diversions (plus Diversions had nachos, hot dogs, hotwings with ranch dressing, and olives). Oh and at least I had several drinks of the day

Dinner this night was at Parrot Cay. I have to say that this time my meal was better than the first time I ate at this restaurant back in November. As usual our waiter was slow and we didn’t have dessert before the limbo began. As it was Pirate night as the buffets was going on later we opted out of dessert.

We relaxed in the room for a bit and then headed up to see the Fireworks and sample the buffet 

Cruise Day/Night 3:

Yay for Castaway Cay. Headed off to Serenity Bay for some Sand, Sun, Surf, drinks, and reading. After quite awhile of relaxing we headed down to Cookie’s BBQ to eat.

After lunch we headed back to the ship, and back down to Diversions for some games, drinks, and more snacks. Then it was time for dinner at Triton’s.

After dinner I relaxed in the room to pack, and relax some with the balcony doors open so that I could hear the waves as I read my book and drift off to sleep.

Well that ends another trip. Next is Alaska aboard the Disney Wonder in May of 2011.
