Have been planning this trip for, well, since last trip in May 03. Were originally driving from hometown of Evansville, IN but got these unbelievable rates with SW so we gave up 2 rooms and flew and added a day to our trip. The kids have never flown so we were excited to surprise them. Told them the night before. We did the whole arrive 2 hrs early and get your boarding passes then wait in line to get seats together. The kids could hardly contain themselves. This was magical moment #1! Finally, after months of anticipation, obsessing, planning, dreaming, stressing, we arrive at Orlando. Funny moment when we land, the stewardess announces "Welcome to Orlando!" Well, my dh, who can't say "L's" very good, looks at dh and says, " Orwando?? I thought you said we were going to Disney Worwd." Of course, he thinks it's a city of it's own.

I had shuttle pick up schedule at arrival of 11:50am. Go to baggage claim and guess what? No shuttle person. So after about 10 minutes after getting all our luggage, I call them. They explain driver will be there in 10 minutes. So we wait, while constantly being bugged if we need help with our luggage from baggage people. I understand they have a job to do but being repeatedly asked gets to be very annoying. It reminded me of when I got off cruise ship in Bahamas. So finally, a girl shows up to inform us driver is still on way & to follow her outside to wait for car. Another 30 minutes pass & no driver. She has a walkie talkie and is going back & forth with her boss. Of course, we are right in front of all the buses for the Disney Cruises. We wanted to hop on and go so bad, but we remembered where we were headed and it wasn't too bad. Finally, after 15 more minutes, she assures us driver is close & leaves us there. Well, of course no driver comes. We call back & get an answering machine. Not a good moment. So we proceed to see about renting a car. Lines are out of this world. So then we go to Mears to see how much that would be. As we get to counter, we see our girl again with another family. My husband goes to her & says "Remember us?" She looks surprised and gets on walkie again. Right at that moment 1 1/2 hours after arrival, our driver shows up. Luckily, we have great kids who were just so excited to be there and in great moods, that the wait wasn't too bad. But I was pretty annoyed. They give us $10.00 discount and unlimited time at our grocery stop.

I promised myself at the beginning of this trip I would not get upset over little things. My mantra was going to be "You are at Disney--Be happy". Needless to say I repeated that several times while waiting. But being in the Florida sun with my family moments away from a fun filled week definitely helped my frame of mind. Next stop POR! Just a little later than planned.

I'm impressed that it only took 10 minutes to get your luggage! Thanks for the report. I'm sure you got the worst part of the journey over at the beginning and the rest of the trip was great!
