I really want to start a pre-trip report for our 10th Anniversary trip.

We thought that we would never, ever get another adults only trip until the kids were much older, but my husband has worked it out for us. :woohoo:

So to Disney we shall go!

WHO: Brandon and Stephanie. Two lovebirds that no one believed would make it through their 1st year of marriage, much less 10.

Nanny nanny booo boooo! We are doing it!

From our wedding day:

We were married at the beach, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina IN the sand to be exact! The only guests were our little Lainey and my mom. It was exactly what we wanted and so our style.

A picture from many years ago, when there was only one little one running around. This was our first year of marriage.

We've made it through alot in (almost) 10 years. We've added four more children to our family with hard pregnancies and an adoption. We also had a miscarriage, several moves with our biggest move taking us from Georgia to Virginia. Brandon also was finally able to adopt DeLainey (our "little" one in the picture above.)

Our fab four:

Then we started the adoption process again. In August 2011, we matched and met a little girl that was to become our Annalise.

But she was never placed with us. We were heartbroken and Brandon and I went to Disney alone that October to heal a bit and celebrate his 30th birthday.

Then we found out that we were adding another baby! Isaiah joined us in August 2012.

One of my favorite pictures of Isaiah:

And we househunted for a long time-- nearly 6 months. We bid on several and nothing seemed to be working out. Finally we went under contract in December...

I was so glad we had trouble with the other houses. Seriously, the heavens parted and the angels sang when I saw our home.

February brought a horrific scare, when our fourth child, Solomon, was suddenly overcome with an acute croup attack. He was intubated and sedated and then transferred to the children's hospital and admitted to the PICU. Neither of us have ever been so scared!

Brandon was my rock and we held each other up.

And God granted our prayers and less than 24 hours later and we were discharged!

(Sedated to blowing bubbles with the respiratory therapist!)

2 weeks later we closed on the house.

And since then, I've been hospitalized twice.

2013 has been a heck of a year.

We both say we couldn't do it without each other. He is my soulmate and Disney is one of our happy places. ;)

WHAT: An adult only trip for our 10th Anniversary

WHEN: Well our Anniversary is 4/4/14. We hope to be somewhere in The World on that day. And we have childcare for SEVEN days. :worship:

WHERE: Obviously we are going to the World, BUT we are hoping when packages are announced on July 10th, that rates will allow us to book a moderate.

Currently, Brandon has his eye on Caribbean Beach Resort. But we'll see! We've only ever done a value. Even when I was a child and visited with my family, we stayed in a value!

We are hoping for a preferred king. Just 'cause!

HOW: How will we eat you ask? Well we are planning on a dining plan with sit down meals. Deluxe or regular? I dunno! We are intrigued by the signatures and know that if we are going to do them, the time will be right. Afterall, our littles are not likely to enjoy sitting through long meals. The girls would be fine. The little balls of energy? I mean, boys? Not a chance!

Stay tuned and we'll see how the planning of our trip goes.

8 more days until packages come out! :hourglass

Who's counting?

ME!

Sounds like a great plan! Looking forward to hearing how it all plays out! :)

Hiya, Stacy! I can't wait to hear about your upcoming trip.

Pssst... your signature needs updated. I know you are in denial about your little ones growing up (me too!) LOL!

Timing: So last night I was looking at Dad's Crowd Calendar (Never heard of him before but it was the only one I could find that didn't require a subscription) and April looks perfectly crazy.

Add in that DH and I will be taking college classes and our break is in early March (also crazy per the calendar) but we finish in May...

And maybe our trip is going to be moved to May.

I'm waiting on official word from DH. And I'm bummed. But I really think this will be better.

Ain't nobody got time for logging into school from DISNEY WORLD! :scared:

I am joining in, I will be back later to comment more. Your family is beautiful and I LOVE Myrtle Beach! :thumbsup2

Welcome to my very early PTR!

I had never been to MB before we got married there. I grew up going to Folly (Charleston) and Tybee (Savannah.)

We've been back a few times since we were married. We enjoy it, alot! :thumbsup2

It is never too early for a PTR IMHO! I love Myrtle Beach, first time I went I was 12...and I was hooked! When I was in nursing school I went almost every weekend...those were the days of the older hotels, we could check in Saturday AM at 8 am and get a rom for EIGHT bucks a night in the winter...it was fabulous! I miss those little dives lol. I don't go nearly enough now, we haven't been in a very long time...but I can't complain, I love Disney! I have been to both Foly and Tybee, but it has been a LONG time ago. I owuld love to retire at the beach, it makes me happy! :goodvibes

One Friday, DH and I had a really crappy week at work (we've worked together for three different companies) so when I got off, I pulled out my Myrtle Beach directory and booked us a room for the weekend..... in January!

It was worth it though. It was so cold, but we enjoyed our hotel's indoor pool and hit the outlets and forgot about all the work stress.

We are pretty spontaneous people even with the gaggle of children following behind us. LOL :drive:

Have a Happy 4th of July!

To DVC or not to DVC.. that is this morning's question!

I did something pretty bad this morning. :rolleyes1

Isaiah woke up before everyone else and I came downstairs with him and thought, "Ohhhhhhhhhhh.. I wonder if we should check out the DVC resorts while we are there by ourselves. You know.. just look around and dream and maybe when I'm done with my degree and working, we can buy in..." :rolleyes1

No big deal... right?!?!?!?!?!?

So when I was looking around, it dawned on me... "Everyone on this DIS (cough, cough, enablers, cough, cough) says that you can rent points for around the price of a mod...and I've read mixed reviews of CBR.. so let me see what it would cost. You know.. since packages quotes aren't ready for 2014, for five more days..."

Ahem.

We all know where this is going right?

I ended up pricing out studios (don't need a kitchen, but a microwave would be nice!) and sending my husband an email with each price laid out.

*fingers crossed* :thumbsup2

Wha???:confused3 Just trying to make sure he knows his options!

.....Trying to be helpful.

Wha? Quit looking at me like that! :rotfl2::lmao:

A DVC studio is a great option ... when you're renting points though, its a bit harder to get the value/standard type studios. If you want the Contemporary, which I highly recommend, think Lake View. Its stunning anyways. Either that or see if you can find a BWV or BCV owner to get you a pool/garden view, the largest category at BWV. The Epcot resorts are lower points and you have easy access to all those great restaurants!

Its so great to have an adults-only trip. ::love:: DH and I did more of them when DS was small, but now he knows when we've been cheating on him with the Mouse so we won't do as many anymore ...;)

Thanks for stopping in on my TR!

Renting so far ahead of time makes DH nervous.. so that isn't going to work this time.

And he would only do it if we could get a monorail or Wilderness Lodge. I believe he has an unhealthy obsession with WL. But who am I to complain?

:rotfl:

My kiddos don't say much about us going to Disney alone. Our biggest issue is finding childcare. :) But DH has worked it out so here we go!

The next trip after this will be with kiddos though. They are excited! :cheer2:

Okay.. so after 4739247392874932874938279437294873928473947827562839 changes in our plan.. I think we have a keeper.

It's been everything from A of A on arrival night and then Caribbean Beach, to a full value trip (quickly nixed by the hubs), to renting points, to deluxe and hoping like heck for a PIN code.

Today, I called in because everytime I priced Wilderness Lodge I seemed to get a different number. I still don't know what was happening.

Anyway, she went on and on about Club Level and how she just celebrated her 10th anniversary in Club.

Well... club for the whole week isn't in our budget (without a discount) and I thought it would be disappointing to book Club and have to change it up later.

So I asked about the moderates and she went on and on about French Quarter. She said that was her favorite moderate. That she love, love, loved the small resort and really enjoyed it.

Bonus: We can book a king instead of hoping. And since the resort is small we don't have to try to book a preferred.

So...

if you are still with me.

We are doing French Quarter April 25-30th. We will not be in the World on our true anniversary because the University schedule just won't work it out.

We are hoping to still be in the Flower and Garden Festival time period. And we are hoping they do the food tasting booths. (The year we went they didn't, but did last year.) Food and Wine is our truly favorite time to go. So maybe this will feel a little like combining both!?

DH has requested the Deluxe Dining plan. So I'm sure I'll ask a zillion and five questions about reservation suggestions.. I just marked on my calendar what day I can start booking that!

We will be at Wilderness Lodge Club Level April 30th through May 2nd. ;) I think we are going to go sans the dining plan. We should have til Midnight May 1st to use up our dining credits. Then nosh around in the lounge, etc. And maybe pay for a meal or two out of pocket?

Right?

Right?

I'm so nervous about this whole thing. I can seriously barely breathe.

This is more than we've spent on family trips... and I feel a bit guilty about that. DH says our 10th will only come around once.

pixiedust:pixiedust:

Anyway, by booking it this way, it is under our set budget and any discounts means that we can upgrade or add in extras. Yee haw!

Sounds great! Looking forward to reading more.

By the way, I am so jealous you live near BGW, love that park, so pretty!

I'm going to choke him. :rotfl2:

I just got a text saying "Love French Quarter, forget Club."

<deep breath>

Alrighty then!

I asked him if it was his final answer.

"Yes."

We'll see!

LOL! I didn't even realize how outdated my signature was! It doesn't show on the mobile app, and I didn't think to check! :)

Fixed and updated with our new trip stats! 2 months and 1 week to go!!! :cool1:

I'm so glad you're getting to do an adults only trip! It sounds great so far! We loved POR, so I'm interested to hear how y'all like FQ.

It's okay... it just gave me a giggle!

You'll have to report back on the restaurants!

I'm waiting on park hours but this is our list so far:

Tusker House before rope drop

Crystal Palace before rope drop

Kona for breakfast and dinner

Yak and Yeti

Coral Reef

Yachtsman

Hollywood and Vine before rope drop

Be Our Guest- Lunch and Dinner

Any thoughts, anyone?

Loved Be our Guest lunch ... if you go on a park day that is not crowded in MK your wait could be less than 20 minutes. The dinner menu looks sufficiently different that it is on my "eventually" list.

We though Tusker House was great, the value for the food was very decent. We went for brunch though ... got one of the last seatings that was not lunch with the intention of doing a few rides, then going to sit down so we wouldn't have to rush through breakfast/character experiences. The character interaction wasn't one of the better character meals I've had, but it was okay ... good for photo ops, nothing exciting.

Subbing! We'll be at POFQ in Sept, so I'll let you know what we think.

Very jealous of your adults only trip. Every time I go (since having kids) it's just me and my daughters.

I love Kona for any meal. This year we're trying San Angel Inn for the first time because my DDs love the Mexico pavilion. We're also going back to SciFi for the third time. And I think I would go to Crystal Palace for breakfast even without the kids.

Can't wait to read more as your trip shapes up!
