I'm also the Dec. 11-15. I'll be solo until Dec. 13 when my friends arrive. Already booked the DIS party on Saturday night and I'm doing the BOMA dinner on Sunday.

I'd just go for it if I were you - there'll be plenty of people from DISboards there that weekend!! :goodvibes

When and where's the DISparty saturday??? I have gotten n invite for boma! But not sure if ill make that. The menus isn't to my likeing. But I could suck it up just to meet fellow dis'ers. Any details would be great

Go, you will enjoy it... That is how my first solo trip came about, my fellow traveler backed out on me at the last minute. I went and had a fantastic time and was able to do so many things that I wanted to do but never could because of catering to others wishes... (and btw you might be surprised with Boma, I didnt think the menu looked that great either but I enjoyed it once I tried it)

I think there's going to be a bunch of us "singles" there at the same time.

I'm going solo Dec 12 - 18th. Attending both the TSM Party and the dinner at Boma.

If you're looking for a little company, let me know. I'd be happy to meet up for a drink, a meal or a little park time (but be forewarned........ I am a ride wuss. In fact, I am the wussiest wuss...I am the Queen Wuss. I don't do things that spin me around or lift me in the air or generally make me feel like I'm going to yak - but I am willing to share my FP for these rides :rotfl:).

me too.. I'll be there 12/7 -12/14...let me know if you are interested in meeting..

I would highly recommend going on your own.

I just did a 12 day solo trip and it was the best trip I have done to Disney in a long time.

Benefits include:
No waiting on others to get up. I saw a lot of people not getting on busses in the AM because they were waiting on other people. I was talking to one group that watched 3 MK buses go by because they were waiting on someone.
No people whining it's too hot.
No people telling you to turn the light out and go to bed when you are posting to the dis boards.
No people complaining they are tired (I did a couple of 16 hour days with EMH I could not do this with others)
No issues with people who will not eat certain things. I heard a lot of complaining from people that were traveling in groups. They were waiting on this one or that one so they could make an ADR. This one did not want to eat at that place. Etc.. etc..
No one to say let’s move along when you are enjoying the Tequila bar.
You can move through the crowds very quickly to get to the early safari in AK or to get a fast pass for Toy Story.
Single rider lines. - You can do the rock and roll rollercoaster or Expedition Everest 6 or 7 times in the same time a group can do it once.

Eating at the sit down locations can be somewhat uncomfortable (depends on you), but the QS locations are surprisingly good. In 12 days eating QS I never had a burger and only repeated two meals because they were so good.
You can also dine in Germany and know you will be put at a table with other people and will most likely end up talking to them unless, for better or worse.

Getting photos with the characters are a little odd, but I did it since my son would appreciate it, but I felt the staff was a little odd about it. They did SEEM to make some assumptions about a guy by himself getting a photo with Mickey & Minnie at the toon town fair when I picked up the photos (you get a free photo so I am going to get it).

There are always people to hang with at the tequila bar in Mexico.
There is probably a good chance you will meet someone from one of the dis boards, especially around the holidays. If you see someone taking a picture of a drink or a meal, they are probably from this site.;)

There are always people to talk with in line, especially if they are nervous about the ride.
For the most part they are OK, but you get the occasional idiot who might say something stupid.

<Begin Rant>
I still can't believe I witnessed this. There was a cute 20 something girl waiting in line for soaring and she said she was a party of one and the woman behind her said to her "that's sad". She did seem off put by the comment. She has no idea why this person is by herself. Did her boyfriend leave her at the altar? Did someone pass away? Is she just doing a baby swap. If she terminally ill? You have no idea, so why comment.
<End Rant>

Anyway I will most likely go again on my own. Even if I do bring the family next time I will leave them at the pool a few days and do the parks on my own.

Go for it! I'll be there the 9th to 13th solo also. My link in my sig has my current plans :)

I got the "that's sad" line on my solo trip from an older woman. I laughed and told her everything I'd done so far, how much fun I was having and about doing what I wanted when I wanted. She then said she'd changed her mind and was jealous. :rotfl:

OP - go and have fun. You'll love it.

One more comment for the OP. Something just to make your trip a little more fun.

If you can send photos of what you are doing and what you are eating every day to your friends that cancelled. Tell them how nice the weather is. Tourture them, but in a nice way. I was lucky enough to have a blackberry that I could email pictures as I was eating or doing things.

I did this to my wife on my last trip and I think she regrets not going.
I know my son wanted to go.

I'm not sure I want them to go next time. I missed them and all, but it is great to be on your own and do what you want and it is even more fun to let them know what a great time you are having while they are back in the cold rain.
