Amy's New Start : Comments Welcome!

Good job on handling those challenges. :thumbsup2

I hope your brother is enjoying the sunshine and good weather. It's a bit cool, but sometimes I think that's better than overwhelming heat. They actually showed a bunch of Canadians in the pools at Aquatica the other day, which I think was in the 70s. Maybe I could have done that back when I lived in Chicago, but no way now!

Another good day under my belt! I decided to skip water walking, no offense but that river gets clogged with older ladies who are there to socialize and you can barely move. So I walked up on the indoor track. I decided to do 15 minutes as fast I could stand. I was huffing and puffing, at one point two joggers passed me but I almost was able to keep up with them. I wish I could have done 20 minutes at that rate but dd was slow to get going this morning and I ran a bit late. Then I aquasized for an hour following my walk and really focused on keeping my gut sucked in which my instrutctor says will strengthen the core and my abs. I hope so!

I came home and ate a grilled chicken and cheese sandwich on my Orowheat Sandwich Thin bread. I love that bread! Its sort of a hollowed out burger bun, loaded with fiber and only one point for the whole thing.

Now I am cleaning away. Ds is home today and hopefully going to join his friends at the park any minute! Luckily he slept until noon which kept him out of my hair. How did I used to have him and his little sister home all day every day before they went to school? I guess I was younger.;)

Stepdad called today, almost managed to really upset me. I am trying to be less sensitive where he's concerned because he is 85 and lately its been easier. But today it was not so easy. Oh well, another conversation bites the dust, and I didn't eat my way through the sadness regarding his comments, instead I scrubbed my kitchen floor. He's not worth blowing it the day before weigh in.:rolleyes1

I will check in on everyone a bit later.

Amy: Benjamin was always terrified of the water like Buckley. Daisy on the other hand would lounge in a pool all day! Seriously, she just needs a tropical drink in her paw to complete the picture! I love it that you love my attitude and I have to say, I am pretty proud of how I am doing mentally and physically. I need to keep it up!!

Tracy: Yes my brother is at the Poly, Club level, on my sil's 50% castmember discount! Its their first trip to WDW and I told them they started their WDW experience right! They can see the castle and space mountain from their balcony. I'm not jealous or anything!;)

Deb: Yeah, I have to pay extra for the swim time and play time but I do because I know how lonely my two spoiled dogs get when their slaves are on vacation! :rotfl:

Barb: I am betting my two Chicago bred nieces will be in the pool at the Poly! Its all relative, as to how we react to the weather. I know if I ever move to Florida (man I would love that), I'll be freezing when its 60 but of course here, I turn on the ac in my car when its that warm!

way to go you - great that you made good food choices in difficult situations & great going on the exercise :)
when my DB was in WDW & i was stuck home it really really got to me, all i did was clock watch & try to guess what they were doing!!! This time their coming with us ;)

Ploy? Club Level????? you don't have to be jeolous, I will be for you. What a wonderful trip experience it must be. :goodvibes

Way to go for you!!!!!!:cheer2: You did great last week and especially this past weekend. :thumbsup2

A bone shaped pool. :rotfl: When we got Roo, the rescuers told us she loved water and to play in a small pool they had in the back yard. So I got her one. :sad2: She splashed all of the water out of it and chewed it up.:confused3 The first day.

Good job on not getting upset with stepdad and cleaning instead of eating. You won two battles there. :woohoo:

Way to go Amy! You have had a great day and I hope your evening goes just as well.

I'm sorry to hear about your step dad. :( Good for you for choosing to clean instead of eating to work out your frustration with him. That is a VICTORY, Amy!:cheer2: I am so proud of you!!

Great job on your food choices and on your workouts today! Keep up the good work!!!

I'm glad you took out your frustration with stepdad on the kitchen floor and not the fridge! :cool1: I know he says some things to make you crazy, but you just have to power through it and realize he's 85 and all filters are gone at that point in your life! :confused3

I also like those sandwich thins! Have you tried FlatOut? It is a wrap with 100 cal and 8g fiber. They have them at Costco. I love those things!

I am so anxious to hear how WW went today!!!

Good for you to take power over that frustration! You can't change or control your stepdad, especially at that age, but you can control how you react to him. You found a great outlet for the energy created by the frustration. :thumbsup2

Thanks ladies. I didnt' make it back on yesterday. My computer went out. I was so upset, we don't have the money for a new computer now. Then dh came home to take a look and plugged it in and it worked! :lmao: Guess the power cord came undone and once the battery died so did the computer! Needless to say, dd and I will check that out next time the computer "dies"!

I was down 2.2 pounds today. I was pretty happy about that and feel that is a good amount of weight to have lost in the past two weeks.

I wasn't going to go the gym, my new shoes are hurting my feet but I put deodorant all over them (makes them too slippery to blister) and loosened up the laces. I just know that at this point, I can't afford to stop habits I have only been doing for two weeks, its too easy to quit this early on!

Tracy: Its always a struggle for me not to emotional eat but anytime I don't , I feel very strong!

Tracey: All week I have been wondering what they are up to and now when I go I know they'll do the same!

Amy: I know stepdad's comments are partly his age, I just get so mad when he says something negative about my mom. I do just let it go and then come on here and gripe! I do like the flatout wraps as well, especially with tuna salad.

Barb: The bathroom never sparkled so much! It was a good outlet and far better than mowing through a bunch of junk food.

Lisa: Poly Club Level is my dream. Not happening anytime soon!

Forgot to mention that I bought some hostess products on Friday. I let the kids have one treat a day, and ds picked out Zingers and Ding Dongs (on sale). I have not eaten one. I know that as soon as I do, I am sunk. Today I wanted one but I had raisin bran instead. Which strangely enough has more points but it filled me up and has nutrition, unlike a Zinger! I have to laugh, I always pack such healthy lunches for the kids (whole wheat bread, turkey, yogury, fruit) and then pop in some piece of sugary crap at the end! Oh well, its about balance right???

Congrats on the weight loss, Amy!!!!:cheer2: Keep up the good work!!:cheer2:

That is too funny about the computer! Been there, done that! ::yes:: A few years ago, I called my DH freaking out because the computer suddenly stopped working and we didn't have the money for a new one. When he came home, he looked at the outlet and saw that it had become unplugged. Boy, did I feel bad after all of the ranting and raving I did.

I hope you have a great day, my friend!

CONGRATS on the loss! 2.2lbs is great!!!

At least you and Tracy look like computer dunces in the privacy of your own homes. I've actually had to call in a problem ticket at work, have someone come out to my desk, only to tell me that my laptop wasn't seated all the way in the docking station... :rolleyes1 Yep, that was embarrassing!

We are SO similar! I also pack the kids healthy lunches, but always give them a treat - whatever is on sale that week (which is why I also have Twinkies and Ding Dongs in my house right now!).

Wow, deoderant on the feet, huh? Have you tried wearing 2 pairs of socks? Great job finding a solution and keeping in with your routine. :thumbsup2

Thanks Tracy and Amy,

Another good day today! I went to the gym and walked pretty fast for 25 minutes then aquasized for an hour. I have to say, I am in a bit of a pickle with my walking. I enjoy walking with my friend but she doesn't walk as fast as I do. Today I really wanted to crank it but couldn't. I did go much faster than we normally do and I felt bad because she was breathing hard but I just need to burn fat! And I am by no means a power walker or meaning to sound snobbish about my ability. I just need to do it fast for those shorter walks. I know I wont' say anything because I never can do that, but I kinda hope maybe she just suggests we walk separately on the shorter walk days.

I am now going to cook dinner. I just got my whole house clean and I am beat! I really have not been my usual anal clean freak self the last couple of months and this week I got this place in ship shape! First kid, husband or dog that messes it up is gonna be sorry!

I am a bit worried, dd came home not feeling too well today. I wouldn't be that worried but she is supposed to leave for camp tomorrow. I think more than anything she is wiped out but her nose is a bit runny and she just seems off. So I am keeping her home tomorrow. If she isn't better, she can't to to camp and I will lose $165. And she'll be crushed. I am having her take a long hot bath, pushing the vitamin C and making her drink tons of fluids. I can't believe this is the kid that went over four or five years without getting sick. She has made up for it. Hopefully some rest and fluids will get her feeling fine. If not, well it can't be helped. Ds missed this same camp two years ago when my mom died and I lost my money that time too. Maybe we are jinxed!

Amy: The problem is my feet are almost too wide for a standard width shoe (but not quiet wide enough for a wide width). So it always takes a bit to break them in. I use either deodorant or body glide or blister shield to keep the toes slippery so they don't get blisters. It happens every time I get new shoes and it stinks!

Tracy: I was freaking out plenty yesterday! We don't have the money for a new one at all and with the kids school we have to have one. Thank goodness it was such a crazy, minor thing. Time to get that savings built back up for such emergencies!

I sure hope DD is feeling better soon.

If your friend doesn't say anything, maybe you should suggest the separate short walks yourself. Focus it on her, i.e. "You seemed to be working pretty hard at a fast pace, so I'd be happy to walk separately on the short days so we can each do what's comfortable for us." Otherwise it will continue to be quite frustrating.

Sending lots of good thoughts and prayers for your DD. I hope she is feeling better by tomorrow!:wizard:

Great job getting your workout in and on getting your house clean!:thumbsup2

Hope you have a nice evening!

Amy, no need to feel mean or snobbish. It's just a fact. People do things are different levels. You have really worked hard to get to where you are and figure out what you need to do for yourself.

I have the same problem walking with E. She just can't keep up with me. So, I slow down for her and she still has to work hard to keep up. I'm like you and can't say anything out right. E is aware that I slow down for her. I will be basically walking (a bit fast) and she will be pumping her arms, breathing hard and sweating. Some days, I would actually get concerned for her. E finally chose on her own to not walk with me as much.

2.2lbs!!!!!! Way to go girl. :cheer2: You are doing great. Sometimes it just takes longer to show a difference and to figure out what works for you. You are on your way. :cool1:

:wizard:Hope DD feels better today. :wizard: It's fun being sick, especially knowing that you are missing out on some fun. What a great mom you are to keep her home today, so she can maybe go this weekend.

Maybe you can do a slower walk with your friend, then a solo walk where you really pick it up a notch?

I hope DD gets better soon, that stinks that she is starting to get sick right before camp! :wizard:

I hear ya on the shoe thing - I have Fred Flinstone feet. I get wide widths whenever I can! ;)

Good job on the walking and aquasize workouts - and like your work around with your shoes...LOL, i glob vaseline between my toes when i run, and bodyglide other parts...including the bottoms of my feet to avoid blistsers (like deodorant) -- nice job on the 2+ pound loss - Amy, sometimes I'll be the men's shoe - which is like a woman's wide, but also has a bit more room in the heel and toe box (I wear wide too)

Thanks ladies,

Dd is off to camp! Whatever she had or was about to get, we flushed out with a gallon of Kool Aid, a bunch of herbal tea and I made her eat a bunch of oranges. I let her stay home, I found out a lot of the girls were also doing that anyway, because apparently they get no sleep whatsoever at the camp. Luckily it was a low day at school and she was able to log on and do some of her assignments. This trip is just so important for her, she is so very shy and when she announced she wanted to go you could have knocked me over with a feather! I left her there with two other girls who are very nice (one of them I know the mom well and she promised to look after dd). I'll be on pins and needles hoping she's having fun but I bet she will.

I didn't work out today, decided to take this as my off day for the week. I plan to walk at the gym sometime tomorrow and also maybe go to the track. I also am telling dh to help me at long last get on wii.

Right now dh and I are off to have a drink. With dd gone and ds off with his friends, we have a night to ourselves!

And tomorrow night ds has the winter dance at school so we have another night just us! I asked if he was going to ask a girl (I see all these girls on his facebook) but he said he didn't want to be tied down since there will be "hundreds upon hundreds" of girls there!

I will check in with all of you either later tonight or first thing tomorrow.

Oh, I have done well with food today and have all my flex points so I should be okay to go out and splurge a bit!

Wow, 2 date nights in a row! Woohoo!!!

That is so funny about DS, keeping his options open. My DS went from being a girl crazy fiend in 6th and 7th grades to being seemingly not interested at all in 8th grade... :confused3 Either that or he is really pulling one over on us!

You have done great this week, I hope you enjoyed your day off. You earned it, that's for sure! :cheer2:

Enjoy those date nights! :goodvibes

That is too funny about your DS keeping his options open. I like the hundreds and hundreds of girls quote too!:thumbsup2 That sounds like something my nephew would say. ;)

Way to go having all of your Flex Points left!:thumbsup2

Have a great weekend!

Hi all,

Date night was nice, we went to Happy Hour at our favorite local place, I had a few rum and diets and dh and I split a half order of nachos. Then I came home and drank a bunch of water. Today, food has been fine, I had a bit too many points at lunch making myself a paninni, but plan to have a very light dinner. Dan and I decided to stay home tonight, no more budget left for going out!

Its been a bit of a blah day, cloudy, cold and I have just not even had the energy to get out of my pj's! This is very rare for me but I have to say, its been nice. I did some Disney planning and we watched a movie with ds who rarely finds time for his old mom and dad anymore! We were all just beat and sort of blah. Now tonight ds has his dance and Dan and I will just hang out here.

Bad news was that I didn't work out two days in a row. I am okay with that, my goal is to do five days per week, last week I did six but I am okay with five. So now I know I must go to the gym all five days this week!

Hopefully dd is having fun at camp and is talking and interacting with other kids. She is so darn quiet and shy.

Tomorrow's plan is church, get a walk in and pick up dd. I really hope the sun comes out tomorrow. I don't like all this gloom and clouds!

Tracy: Yeah, the "hundreds of girls" thing cracked me up too. I wonder if he's figured out there will be hundreds of boys there as well!

Amy: My ds goes through stages with girls too. Which I guess is a good thing!

Deb, I may have to try vaseline on my toes, I am about out of blister products!

Lisa: Thanks for understanding, walking with a friend is fun but like all things in life, it has its good points and bad points too!

Barb: I plan to bump it up to my fastest pace and see how she does. I am not good at speaking up about things but I just have to keep up my pace since most of my workouts are moderate and I need to increase the intensity if I am going to burn the fat I desparately need to burn off!
