Sunday, April 25th

We woke up around 7:30 a.m. and got ready for a wonderful day at Disneyworld. We hit the food court for some breakfast and we were at the bus stop by 8:45 a.m. We headed to the Animal Kingdom. We arrived right at opening. There was a talking potted palm tree running around-making everyone laugh. I had seen the talking trash can previously, but never a talking palm tree! There was really no "opening ceremony" at AK like I had previously experienced. No characters...no cast members with animals...nothing. We walked through the trail with the bridge and got our first view of the Tree of Life. Breath taking as usual! We walked around and enjoyed some of the animals. We checked out the otters, parrots, large rodent (can't remember what he is called) and the turtle. We started walking towards Africa and ran into some characters. We had pictures taken with Lilo & Stitch and Flick. When we arrived in Africa we took a stroll through the shop and then grabbed fastpasses for the Safari. Next, we took a ride on the Wildlife Express train and explored Rafiki's Planet Watch. In the vet hospital area we watched as a black tarantula was being examined. He had an infection on his abdomen.
We grabbed Stanley and Rafiki for some pictures. Rafiki rocks! We headed out into the petting zoo area and Amy enjoyed petting the animals. I am not as "hands on" as she is. While waiting for her to finish up with the sheep, I wandered over and was watching the donkeys when I felt a gentle tug on Pal Mickey. Assuming it was a little kid, I looked down with a smile to speak with the youngster. Surprise!!! It was a goat trying to eat Mickey's nose. I yelled and backed away. Amy laughed herself silly over my reaction. I love animals, but farm animals eating Mickey's nose....not quite my thing.
We grabbed the train back to Africa and it was time for our Safari. We had a very enjoyable safari. There were quite a few zebra and giraffes frolicking near the path. The lions seemed to be hiding for this safari. We found out that there is a pregnant elephant and there should be a new baby elephant around by the fall. Very exciting.
After our Safari, we stopped by the Camp Mickey & Minnie area for a picture with Mickey. Okay, I gave him a hug, too!
Then, we grabbed some lunch at Flametree Barbeque. Amy had the smoked chicken and I had the mini hot dogs. Amy's chicken was yummy! We decided to head back to the resort and have a break.
We enjoyed a little time at the resort and had a quick snooze before heading out for the evening. We arrived at Disney Studios around 4:00 p.m. We walked around a while and decided to ride Star Tours. We enjoyed our ride through space and decided to stake out our spot for the parade. We found a great bench in a shady spot right in the beginning of the parade route. It was across from Sounds Dangerous. Amy went and grabbed some drinks while I saved her seat. The parade started and we especailly enjoyed Mary Poppins and Burt. Sully and Mike from Monsters, Inc. were in the parade, too. After we enjoyed the parade, we went to Backlot Express for some dinner. I had chili and Amy enjoyed a cheesburger. The chili was much better than I had expected. I would definitely eat there again. It was nice and cool inside and there is a lot of seating. Next on our list of must dos was Muppets 3-D. On the way to the movie we stopped and decided on some temporary tattoos. I know.....we are crazy.....we are little kids at heart! Amy got a tribal looking one on her upper arm and I got a series of moody Tinkerbells on my upper arm. Too cute....
We giggled our way through the Muppets 3-D movie. Could Beeker be any funnier? After Muppets, we headed towards the parks two thrill rides: affectionately known as THE coaster and THE tower. There was a 60 minute stand-by wait for ToT and no more fastpasses. There was a 30 minute stand-by wait for RnR coaster and no more fastpasses. We opted to ride RnR first and hope the line goes down for ToT before closing. The wait turned out to be less than 30 minutes and we were able to ride RnR coaster 3 times before 8:00 p.m. My favorite ride in all of WDW.....3 times in a row....I was in heaven! We even waited for the front car twice and still managed to ride it 3 times. After our whirlwind rides on RnR we checked ToT and the wait time was down to 20 mintues. Luckily the park was still open for 30 more minutes. We would be able to squeeze it in. After our first drop of terror we ran out the exit and we were able to get in line again right before park closing. We were on the final ride of ToT on that day! Couldn't believe we were able to ride it 2 times in 30 minutes! It was great! I love that the sequence is different each time you ride it; you never know what to expect.
We leisurely strolled out of the park and made it onto the bus before the hordes of people exited Fantasmic. Great timing.:goodvibes
We returned to the resort and I decided on a night swim in the 50's pool. I was pleasantly surprised....the water was nice and warm. I swam for about 20 mintues and headed back to the room. We went to bed dreaming about the Magic Kingdom.....tomorrow is going to be great.

Sounds like you two made the most of a short trip! Enjoying the reports.

Great trip reports so far!
Sounds like a wonderful spur of the moment trip :)

Hi there
Great report so far. I still have not made myself sit down to write ours :( You said you grabbed Stanley for pictures. Which Stanley is it? Thanks!

Love reading about your trip!:bounce: Cannot wait for the next installment:Pinkbounc

Thanks for writing:sunny:

I am glad everyone is enjoying the reports! More is on the way.
Daisylove-The Stanley I am refering to has his own show on Disney Playhouse during the day. The show features the ...Great Big Book of Everything....and he learns something new about animals on each episode. He is a perfect character addition to Rafiki's Planet Watch.

"It was a goat trying to eat Mickey's nose"

I laughed out loud at that one...I can just picture it...

Thanks...where's Day 3?
