Amtrak to WDW

We are thinking about taking Amtrak down from MD down to either the Orlando or Kissimmee station. We are a party of 9 (5 adults, 3 kids and a baby).

How will we get from Amtrak to our WDW resort? Should we take a bus from the Amtrak station, rent a van or call a cab?

My only concern with renting a van is we will only need it for getting to the resort, our sea world day and getting back to the station. I don't want to rent it for 8 days for that. Anyone know what our options are?

Thanks!!

Can't help much on the transportation part of the question, but the Kissimmee station is closer to WDW. With a party of 9 you'd likely need a couple of taxi vans. You might also consider Uber, but again it will take more than one vehicle.

The reason I have the Orlando station in consideration is I thought I saw there was a bus terminal in the Amtrak station whereas the Kissimmee one is 1/10 of a mile away, which doesn't sound like a lot but when you're toting umpteen suitcases, car seats and kids, it adds up.

If you're bringing your own car seats, you can use Uber or Lyft. FL law requires car seats thru 3yo, and boosters or car seats for 4 & 5yos. You'll need to request 2 vehicles, and they'll need to be requested on separate phones (or you could download both apps on one phone and request 1 from each.)

UberXL or Lyft Plus carry 6 riders in a minivan or SUV. UberX or Lyft carry 4 riders. With a lot of luggage, you might want to pay the extra for 2 of the larger vehicles, as luggage capacity varies. I'd put as much luggage as possible in the first vehicle that shows up to make sure you don't run out of space in the 2nd one. For the Sea World trip, you can get by with one large and one small vehicle.,

As to the bus, there is a direct bus from Kissimmee Amtrak to WDW, and the Kissimmee Lynx depot is right next to the station. But you'd still have to get from the TTC to your resort. I don't know exactly where Lynx picks up near the Orlando station, but you would have to take 2 buses to get from there to WDW. But if you're worried about juggling luggage, the Lynx bus from either station is not the way to go.

Good point. Luggage isn't allowed on the regular WDW bus so again the choice is taxi/uber.

Taxi Van is your best option, and Kissimmee is the closer station. You could do 3 one-day car rentals but that's a hassle and will cost quite a lot in comparison to the 8 days. Several car rental places will pick you up at the train station but you may wait for the pickup especially if the train is not on time... not that happens much (eye roll.)

We always do a train to Disney from the North East and get a car service to take us to out hotel. I know the one we take will provide car seats for a small fee, I assume others will also. Kissimmee station is closer so may save you on cab fare, but note that it probably won't get you to your destination any faster since it's another 20 minutes on the train after Orlando.
