I would like to know if anyone has traveled to WDW by train.

If so, what was your experiences and any suggestiions would be appreciated

I think people either love it or hate it. I personally think it's the only way to go and have travelled fron NY to Kissimmee at least 12 times, with tix in hand for 2 more trips this winter. When my kids were small, they went on the train, too, and had a great time. (We packed snacks, books, quiet games, etc. for them.) Yes, it's a long trip, but I consider it part of my vacation, not just a mode of transportation. :)

We did the Auto Train from Lorton to Sanford last Nov. The food was excellent, the attendants were great and I was utterly miserable. It may have been because we got one of the rooms with 3 adults and a 3yr old. DH would like to try it again with just us and DD but if it were up to me I would drive or fly, heck I think I would walk before I took the train again. THe 3rd adult was MIL who spent the entire trip (and yes I do mean ALL night) complaining about everything from the motion of the train to the bed she had to the bathrooms and anything else she could think of to complain about. VERY bad start to a vacation. The point I am trying to make I guess is that it might not have been the train that made me miserable, so maybe I would try it again.
My advice is make sure you REALLY like who you are traveling with

Hope this helps

We took the train one time to Disney. We traveled from Philadelphia, and the experience was awful. The food was bad, the bathrooms unclean, little in the way of transportation to Disney, and the seats were not conducive to sleeping the night away. Now, we fly or drive.

We took the train last Sept from NY to Orlando. It was me, DH, DD and DS. It is not bad- although we didn't get much sleep on the train . But we are taking the auto train this Sept. The kids really loved the train. I liked the fact that you had to sit and relax!! It was better than driving and I really don't like to fly. I guess it's up to the person.

our family has done the auto train 4 times from lorton and loved it. Even going coach. Have never had a problem finding extra seats to spread out on. Much better than driving from Pennsylvania, where we live.

Since DH is a train freak, we just took amtrak from pennsylvania to chicago, then albuquerque, then from denver back to chicago then back to pennsylvania (3 overnights on train!)

I will never, under any circumstances, ride any other long distance amtrak train again, except for the auto train. (I am writing a "trip report" for the new president.

So I would say, if you can take auto train go for it.
If any other amtrak run the other direction.
