Which station is closest to the cruise terminal?
https://www.portofsandiego.org/recreation/for-cruise-lines.htmlThe Santa Fe Depot is only one block from the cruise ship terminals offering convenient access to light-rail and Amtrak service.
Just a heads up, Amtrak out of San Diego does not have checked luggage, you are limited to two carry ons and one personal item per person with no option to even pay for additional luggage.

Not when we looked, at least to go L.A., they were all unchecked bags.It depends on which Pacific Surfliner time you take. It pretty much alternates between checked bags and not checked bags each train. For the carry-ons, the dimensions come close to 28" bags.+

When we looked the size limit was exactly the same as Jet Blue's carry on size.Trains are very different. You carry your own baggage on board, but you can carry larger bags. They do have some trains with baggage cars, but a lot of the trains are designed to be commuter trains from San Diego to LA. Can't imagine that commute personally, but hey, there are people that actually do that.
For those considering this option, please do look closer. It's a wonderful trip on the train from San Diego to Anaheim. The Anaheim station is in the parking lot of Angel Stadium, just a few minutes from Disneyland. It's a very easy and hassle free way to get to Disneyland from the San Diego cruise terminal. The views along the coast are amazing.

If we had smaller suitcases we would have considered it.
