Amtrak New York - Orlando $46.20 fare

Currently on Amtrak RailSale (valid November 10 - December 16th) is a special one-way coach fare of $46.20 (for one more dollar you could go all the way from NY to Miami). The Florida trains do not often show up on Railsale, except for Auto-Train and then only during the off-season.

This train is the Silver Meteor, leaving New York's Pennslyvania Station in the early evening (7:00 p.m.) with an afternoon (4:23 p.m.) arrival in Orlando or Kissimmee.

for anyone considering this it is an awesome deal. i looked into amtrak for my last visit and it was goingt to be $550 EACH roundtrip.

That Amtrak site has some great rates! What is train travel like these days? What do you do all those hours on board? Is it hard to sleep? Is there stuff like TV or games for the kids? Is the food expensive?

The special rates are for no travel on fri, sat or sun. meals are included if you get a room. DW, DS and myself are leaving fri night from Newark nj at 7:30pm and arrive in kissamee on sat at 4:30pm. not bad little under 24 hours. but we have reserved a standard room, pretty small but atleast it's private with two small beds and a large window. Our price was 924.00 RT fro all of us, (infant free). Quite expensive, but DW afraide to fly. Will have a full report upon return.
