Amid casino fight, Disney drops another $250,000+ on FL political parties

They have about as much right as the proponents have to tell property owners who don't want casinos in their state have. Gambling isn't free. It costs states quite a bit in police and other services.

It seems, approximately, Disney has about $370k worth of no gambling vs the pro $809.1k. According to citizens united, the pro side wins.

I would respectfully disagree with that statement. Citizens United allows for corporations to make political contributions, but they do not get to vote. Put it to a vote, either by referendum or by the legislature in Tallahassee. Either the people should decide, or their elected representatives should decide and then the people can vote them in or out of office based on their record. What I have a problem with, either for or against, is that the issue is not put to a vote, but rather, tabled based on corporate influence. Now, I have no problem with corporate influence to get a vote a certain way, such as commercials or lobbyist meetings with representatives, but at least put it to a vote.

Costs associated with gambling, taken up by the state, are easily offset with tax revenue, the same way Vegas does it. Obviously, there are costs that can not be easily measured, such as addiction, but it is not as if Florida doesn't already have HUGE casinos at the moment.
