Geez, I feel like all I'm talking about are cc rewards lately! Ha! I only carry a couple, but I like to maximize the rewards to the fullest extent possible, and I have a question for anyone who carries the Amex Blue Sky card, where you can get $100 in travel credit per 7500 points. I thought I understood how this worked because I've used the credit before, but I had a recent experience that has left me with some questions for our upcoming trip...

I purchased our annual passes recently and noticed that they are not considered eligible travel expenses for using my credit. Needless to say, I was very disappointed since I have over $1000 in travel credit and had hoped to apply it to those passes!

We are traveling to Disney this summer. My question is in regards to our dining, since that's the only expense we will have (we are DVC members and using points for lodging). If we purchase the meal plan or pay for meals OOP and charge them to the room, does anyone know if these charges are categorized as resort charges? If they are categorized as restaurant charges I don't think they will be eligible, so I definitely don't want to pay as we go...I'm really hoping I can use my Amex credit for this trip somehow and was trying to figure out the dining so that it would apply.

The last time I used points was for our Disney cruise in 2012, all our onboard expenses, including drinks, souvenirs, photos, shore excursions, etc. were lumped into an "onboard expenses" category and I was able to use points to pay for it...hoping I'll be able to do the same at WDW somehow.

Thanks for anyone who can help!

I don't have personal experience with charging the dining.
My understanding is that it is totally dependent on how the vendor classifies the charges.
I would guess that dining will be classified as dining, not hotel/travel.

I suggest charging to your room (if DVC allows that), and then pay off your room charges at the end of your trip with your Blue Sky card.
Then apply your travel credit to those charges, which I resume would be classified as travel, since they will be hotel charges.

Someone else may be able to answer with personal experience.

Maybe you could get in touch with someone at Disney who could tell you how those room charges get classified?
