AmeriHost Resort Maingate on 192...opinions?

I did a search here, and the last posts about this place were last fall. We will be staying here for 3 nights of our vacation in Dec./Jan. and have seen some not-so-great reviews. (I foolishly bought a "vacation package" over the phone a few months ago, and of course it's non-refundable, so we're not able to change hotels for these 3 nights--we'll be much better off the rest of the trip!) Has anyone stayed there recently that could give their opinion of the accomodations? I can't seem to find a website for the hotel either. Thanks!

Sue

Hi Sue,

We came back on 6th January this year from the Amerihost, we were there for 3 weeks for christmas and the new year.

The hotel is very strange, as it has like an indoor courtyard, where the indoor pool is situated in one half, and the restaraunt is up the other half, and it gets very noisy in there, especially at night, when the kareoke gets under way, and thats every evening, although that did'nt bother us as we were in the parks till late anyway.

What i did'nt like about it, was most of the rooms overlook the indoor pool, and you dont get any natural light in the rooms as the windows are facing inside the pool area, so you have no idea what the weather is like until you go outside.
We were lucky, as we were advised before we went to ask for an outside facing room, and we had a lovely view overlooking the 192.

The rooms are a bit old fashioned and very worn in places, but if you dont intend to spend much time there, and only use it to sleep in, as we did, it will be okay.

We personally would not go there again, as we have been to the Howard Johnson Maingate West a couple of times, and for the same money, that was a lot better quality and cleaner to.

Sorry to be so negative about it, you just might love it, this is just our honest opinion, i'm sure you'll have a great time, hope this helps you a little,

Have a fab time,

GARY & HELEN :D

Thanks for the info, Gary & Helen! I'm glad to get your honest opinion--I'll be sure to request outside rooms as we do have small children who can be difficult to get to sleep. Thank goodness we're only there for 3 nights of our trip and have lots of time to look forward to our other accomodations--Vistana Resort and Orange Lake Country Club, both of which get great reviews!

Sue
