Now we've all used them while staying in the villas but what do you think of them ?

I want to get one but can't find anyone who has one and also there are not many places who sell them ! :confused3

I've got a utility room so space isn't a problem - but has anyone any thoughts about them ? would you have one ? if not why ! :cool1:

Thanks :flower:

If you have a Costco nearby, I am pretty sure they sell them there.

i seen them last weekend in either currys or comet, not sure which one.

I would love to have one of these :)

I would love one too so easy to use and not as fragile as English ones! They do sometimes sell them in Costco if you have one locally.

Has anyone ever noticed how practically every bit of clothing you buy in America is tumble dryable? I brought this great jumper out there last yeah and something like that would be "hand washable" or "dry clean" only, but all of theirs seem to be able to go in a tumble dryer! People after my own hearT!!!

i know what you mean.....i went shopping yesterday and nearly everything was HAND WASH only !! honestly who has time to faff with that :confused3

I am getting our next dryer from currys. Its an American dryer and drys about 11 kilos cool :cool1:

Back in 1989 I visited my penfriend just outside Philadelphia. We, our DHs and her mother took a trip to Lancaster County where there is a large Amish community who live a simple life without eletrical mod-cons. We passed a number of their farms and the families had their washing out on washing lines to dry. My friend was in her 20s and was amazed to see a washing line. She couldn't work out how they would get it dry without a tumble dryer in wet weather. (I'm sure most of us have memories of our mum's draping wahing on clothes horses or over the bath!)

I dont think the US top loader washing machines clean as well as the UK style types, but they sure make up for it in cycle time.
How come "quick wash" cycles now take over an hour, Im sure our old "hoover" washing machine years back did a quick wash in about 30 mins.

I'm sure I read somewhere that some manufacturers can't be bothered to test the washing specs. of their clothes so put "Hand Wash Only" to cover themselves!

Thanks - Cosco in Watford have the Whirlpool models- Apparently John Lewis will order them in if you quote the manufacture number and will match any price- they also offer a 2 year guarantee ! :cool1:

Hello, what is the difference in the washers? Does anyone have a picture that they could share.

The Americans have big top loaders ! some take up to 22 lbs of washing. They also have quicker cycles.

I love American washers.

I love the fact that you can just open the lid and drop something else in halfway through the cycle (ok maybe not halfway).

Not to fussed about the washers but I LOVE the great big dryers - they are so big and roomy and nothing needs ironing when you take the clothes out yippee!

Am thinking of asking DH to order one for me from work :)

Well what are your washers & dryers like?

DH and I were looking at these at the weekend, has anyone noticed that they only spin quite low compared with ours, the one at Costco only spins to 600, where as the one we have at the moment spins to 1200! I feel a bit sad admitting to knowing that now!

Having said that I would love one just because it would remind me of my hols every time I did the washing!! ha ha
