I hope this is the right place to ask this.

Anyhoo, I must admit that I've been paying shamefully little attention to the wonderful world of economics. Apparently, the States are on the verge of some sort of recession? (forgive my ignorance, my world has been full of school and managing my first year living on my own).

So, I was just wondering if WDW would lower prices, or have deals to attract people from other countries (like us Canadians)?

They might but the buy four nights, get three free promotion running now is pretty hard to beat. I haven't seen a deal this good since our trip in 2003.

Lots of 40% PIN codes going out to Canadians as well.

Is the "BUY 4 NIGHTS - GET 3 FREE!!" promotion only available on the value resorts?

Thank you everyone. The 4 nights - 3 free deal does look good. From what I understand it is available at any resort, but with limited rooms, and you have to stick to one park per day.

I would love to hear more about this %40 off PIN code. What is a pin code? How do they work? And how does one get one?

You can always add the park hopping option when you get there.

Disney sometimes mails/emails special offers to individuals. There have a number (the PIN) that you need to give the CM when you book. The offer needs to be attached to you in Disney's system. These offers can't be transferred.

On what basis does disney mail these special offers? Is it entirely random, or do they simply e-mail people who, say, have gone to the parks in the last 3 years (or something along those lines)?

Who knows. I'm sure the Marketing department knows the rules but there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. You might ask the same question over on the Codes board.

I wonder what the chances are that they will extend the buy 4 nights get 3 promo to the end of 2009....now that I could actually use!

They might but I also wouldn't be surprised if Disney offered something different that amounted to the same thing so that people didn't get used to any one kind of discount.

I have seen it posted it elsewhere that supposedly there might be even more deals coming out at the taping of the Disney Christmas Parade. I guess we will have to wait and see.

I was also listening to this podcast
http://www.magicaldefinition.com/disney-podcast/mdp-shownotes/mdp_113008.aspx

They don't state their sources but supposedly last year in January the occupancy rates at their resorts were at 80%-90% and for this January it is down to 35%. They also state that they may close down whole resorts and move people around. Now I don't expect to see that, but that is what they state on the podcast.

I do expect with the recession to have WDW to come up with more perks than the 4/3 deal and the 40% off pin codes for some, who knows what they may be. If only we all had a crystal ball to see what was to come.

Yep any resort.

Limited rooms only means that they are filling up, as this promotion has been booking strong for just under a month now.

Disney doesn't discount what they don't need to. :)
