We are just a month away from the premiere of AMERICAN IDOL (Season 9!!). The new season debuts on January 12th. I am really really stoked about the new season, and am hoping for great things. I know some are not happy about Ellen Degeneres replacing Paula, but I couldn't be happier about it (well, maybe if Cyndi Lauper or Queen Latifah had been chosen!).

So anyone know anyone who auditioned? How'd they do?? Will Ellen be judging during the city auditions or not until Hollywood? I thought the announcement that she was judging came after the city auditions were over?

Yay Idol!

I'm excited for the new season too! There isn't much I am watching on TV these days, and I am looking forward to Idol!

I don't know if Ellen went on the City auditions, I would guess that might be hard with her own show, but I am not sure how long it takes. We will soon find out!

Hoping all the AI regulars start checking in...maybe if we're lucky, and we clap our hands really hard and wish really strong, the "Masked Poster" will make an appearance!

Not so excited about the season yet. I think it is going to be hard to top last year for me since I really loved Adam last year.

I will however still watch and keep up with the thread since it is always a good time and laugh.

I'm looking forward to it starting back up too. I'm not an Ellen fan though, wish they would have gotten someone else. You mentioned Queen Latifah or Cyndi Lauper, either of them would have been fine. I just don't care much for Ellen's type of humor. But it won't stop me from watching the show. :goodvibes

This winter is going to be great, with "American Idol", the winter Olympics which I  every part of, and I've heard there is going to be an all-star "Survivor", and Jeff and Jordan from "Big Brother" are going to be on the next installment of "Amazing Race." Sounds like a great winter to me!!

I'm with you that aren't excited about Ellen, I think there were better choices.

I don't think Ellen will be at the cities I know that for a few of them Shania and Victoria Beckman

I was very surprised by the choice of Ellen, but I am looking forward to seeing how she fares. Hoping she will be more like the 'man/woman on the street' who loves music, rather than the professionals. Would not have been my first choice either, but we shall see how it goes.

It's been dull so far for TV - and Without A Trace was cancelled, so other than Law & Order, not much I watch...always look for to AI!

I had not heard this! I love Ellen! Last year I got so sick of Randy, Paula, and whats-her-name, that I would pause my dvr when they were talking, then fast forward so I could listen to just Simon. I agree with Simon almost 99% of the time...I am just not so mean about it!

I think Simon was the better judge of the bunch. He was brutally honest. No sense sugar-coating that someone stinks that night.

I haven't heard of anyone from NC auditioning yet.... But that may not be mentioned until nearer the audition shows.

Oh yeah, I forgot Victoria Beckham was here over the summer for auditions! So, I guess Ellen will start when the real judging begins!

My favorite Idol was David Cook, and I loved Adam last season. I love when there is a performer you just can't wait to see what they are going to do. I think both of them did that, hopefully someone will this season too!

What I like most about Idol is that we let DS11 & DS9 watch it with us (as a reward if schoolwork is done and behavior is good)...it's been a fun family bonding thing. Kind of like what American Bandstand and those kind of shows probably were. DD7 knows she is missing something though! Sometimes I DVR it and let her watch it the next day ;)

My favorite past idols are David Cook and Chris Daughtry.

Should be interesting to see the city auditions with the guest judges. Did I see one of them was Tobey Maguire?

Wow! Wasn't it YESTERDAY that "what's his name" stole the title from Madam???? ;)

Wow, time FLIES!!:cool1:

Can't wait for the new season!!

I suspect that that could cut the ratings in half... which will still give American Idol almost three times better ratings than most of its competition.

Less than three weeks gang! I could just about faint, I'm so excited!

So the Idol commercials are out in full force on Fox, and everytime one comes on, the hairs on my arm stand up and I get all excited. Yeah...I'm an American Idol nerd.

That said, my sister back up in NY tells me one of her friends tried out for Idol. I started grilling her for info as far as where she auditioned and what she sang, but my sister (who isn't an Idol fan) just kind of got all quiet and gave me the "I don't know...somewhere in Florida I think."

Dangit woman...I need more than that!

I am subbing! I cannot wait! It should be an interesting year to say the least!
