I was surprised at some of the people that got kept vs. some of the ones who got sent home. I didn't think Julia did a very good job with her solo performance and thought that Marcus (I think that was his name) did well, so I was surprised when he got sent home and she got kept. I liked the Marine a lot (can't remember his name) and I thought that Frenchie and the girl that sang with her both were wonderful. As far as looks, the guy with the spiky hair (can't remember his name but he got sent home) was gorgeous but I thought he was a real jerk. Anybody else see it?

I really enjoyed the crying. . .

;)

:teeth:

I didn't think Marcus was good at all tonight. Wasn't surprised he was voted off.

In making some early predictions (last year I picked Justin Guarini from the first time I heard him) --

Male - Bettis Richardson and the dorky-looking, but great sounding guy (don't remember his name)

Female - Kimberly ???? and Frenchie ????

I like Kim-not only because she's from Texas:p

I like the Marine, Frenchie, the Luther Vandross look-a-like and Patrick the rocker-because he's not your typical American Idol.

I wasn't surprised Marcus was voted off.

I love Frenchie:D I also think the hairdresser from Ct. (can't remember her name, but they showed a lot of footage of her last night) will do well.

I wasn't surprised that Marcus was let go. I didn't think he did a good job last night.

I can not stand Julia! Why are they focusing so much attention on her? And with the practice - she's the one who screwed up! They said to meet in the other girls room. And I don't know, I think meeting people for anything, especially something like this, I wouldn't sit and wait in the lobby for over 4 hours - get up and look for them! How stupid. And, on top of this, her sister!! Another b!%*$!!!! If I were the other girls in her group, there is no way I would put up with her talking to me like that.

Okay, enough of that vent...onto another note.....I liked that 16 year old girl who got picked on the last show (name?) but I can't tell if she's still around. Other than focusing on a few people I don't think they did a very good job showing who made each cut and who's at the final 32 even. It seemed to be a rush of them saying you've made it or not. I still like the show though.

I love the guy who jumps around and yells "Hercules, Hercules" when we wins, he cracks me up!!! And his version of that Michael Jackson song last night, was great. I was a little disappointed that a couple of the guys who went out and got drunk got to stay, they acted like such jerks. Frenchie and Kim are fantastic!

Funny. I couldn't get DH to watch this at all last year, so I didn't really either. He started watching with the first episode and we've watched ever since. Last night, at the beginning, he said, "An hour and half?!!! The good parts are already over. We'll watch for a little while, but we're not watching the whole thing." We watched the whole thing.

Not good with names, but...

I thought Marcus tried too many "runs" and didn't just SING in his solo performance. He was a nice guy. Great smile. But I'm not surprised that he didn't get picked.

The blonde guy who went out partying really blew it by doing that. I thought he really had "the look" and was pretty talented. He might have made it pretty far if he had just practiced.

I do not understand how the one guy that went out partying, name escapes me, maybe Cory, sounds like Michael Jackson, has the big 'fro, sang to Paula, got to stay. What's up with that? I don't think he'll last too long.

The rocker guy with the long hair has a GREAT voice!

The first set of guys who went in the group competition, with the big black guy (Ruben?), they were AWESOME. They sounded like Earth, Wind and Fire.

Of the two girls that they kept "pitting against one another," the hairdresser and the blonde witch, I thought the hairdresser had a lot more natural talent. The blonde had to try too hard.

I predict that the girl with the quirky clothes and the pink hair (Vanessa) will do pretty well. She's got a weird look, but she's got an amazing voice.

Finally, what was up across the board with not even memorizing the words to your song? I mean, come on, this is a once in a lifetime chance and you can't even get the WORDS right?!!!

Honeywolf, The gorgeous guy I believe you were talking of is Alden Wynn, he is from Vinton Va (about 30 minutes west of where I am) right outside of Roanoke. He did act like a jerk last night, however, I think the Marcus guy was grating on a lot of peoples nerves. ( I may have mispelled his name)

I loved how Simon announced to the last room.

(trying to remember the words)

I'll make this quick.

I'm HAPPY to tell you that we are proud of what you all have done during the auditions.

BUT I'm SORRY to say that we had to let some other good people go to.

I loved the toying with their emotions and watching their faces go from excited, to sad, to excited again.

Cindysgusgus, he's decently close to me too, then ;) since I'm in Richmond. I liked Ruben's group, too. I don't think the girl with the pink hair will make it very far, because she just doesn't have "the look."

To answer a question from Minnie824--I believe the 16 y/o got the boot last night. There was just a brief glimpse of her in the "losers" room as I recall. I was pretty surprised, too--she had a great voice and a nice presence for someone so young. Perhaps that's why she's out--she is so young AND she has time. . .

I agree with the other statements--Frenchie is WOW as is Bettis. We'll see. . . What is up with all the "Julia" and "Kim" coverage? They'll be gone pretty quickly I bet. Also, the dyed hair young lady with strange attire--all I can say is remember last year and (as my daughter calls her) the Nikki "Pink" Wannabe? I couldn't believe she made it that far with her mediocre pipes. . . Go figure!

Here are some names I caught (wrote them down cause I am just plain a geek)
Rickey Smith (the "hercules, hercules" guy) LOVE HIM!!!
Reuben Stutter (Luther VanDross sp??)
Bettis Richardson (dancer - stuck in one of the groups with the idiot drinkers)
Frenchie Davis
Joshua Grayson (the Marine)

My whole family is hooked this season. We didn't start watching until the end last year, but have watched every minute this year. It's great!

As for my prediction, I think Frenchie may take it all. She definitely outshines all the others vocally (with Kim definitely able to hold her own!) and she has a vivacious personality.

I hope she does really well and that Hollywood will take notice. If they choose our idols, they are so-so talents with stick bodies and not enough clothes to cover themselves. But if you look at even Kelly vs Ryan last season, when left to whom the public wanted, talent won out over image. I think that will be the case again this year.

Additionally, it's about votes. And don't we all know a Frenchie? Someone who is overlooked for success because of image? So, she'll not only be getting the "Talent is the only issue" votes, but also the "Underdogs due to Image United" votes.

Personally, though, I would prefer to watch her if her hair were a natural color. I think she'd be a ringer for Aretha Franklin. Seems like I remember her "image" not being a problem. ;)

My other favorites include: (sorry don't YET know all their names)
Kim -- the great singer Kim, not the Blonde ***** Kim vs. the Hairdresser
Rocker dude -- he dealt with the stupid party guy very maturely/diplomatically
Red haired guy with glasses at 1st tryouts who got contacts and dyed his hair black for Hollywood (although, as the proud owner (just kidding) of a red-headed DH I'd prefer a he'd kept his red hair -- maybe a strawberry blonde color)
Bettis -- he was stuck with 2 of the 3 party boys and still did fantastic
Luther Vandross guy (Reuben?)
"Hercules, Hercules" guy (Rickey?)
Hair dresser girl (Julia?)

The ones I really DISLIKE:
#1: Justin wannabe -- CANNOT STAND HIM!!! Why oh Why is he still on???
#2: *****y blonde Kim in the group vs. the hairdresser plot -- She knew that Julia could AT LEAST match her vocally, so she tried to sabotage her. She seems to be more suited for Survivor.

Oh yeah, and did you notice how they spent so much of the time on the Kim/Julia thing last night and now they're BOTH in the first group of 8? Coincidence? Yeah right! lol

As much as I would love to have that happen, it isn't. She doesn't fit the mold of a pop star. (Small petite 100 pound girl)

But she IMO deserves to win. She has presence, charisma, and the best voice out of all the contestants left.

I think Frenchie could go far (at least the final 10) - she has the personality. She needs to be careful not to draw attention to her figure though - when she and the other gal started their routine facing backstage rockin to the beat, it didn't make a favorable impression. Facing forward she has enough charisma to draw you beyond her body image.

Speaking as a plus-size woman (okay not as big as Frenchie, but not teeny tiny either) there are plenty of men who would find her image more attractive than that of some of the other women on the show. She has a great deal of talent as well, so I don't see any reason that she shouldn't do well.

I loved Julia and her sister... so New Yawk... :p Me and my sister HOWLED when she went off... if you're not used to it I understand but it's how I grew up!

I think Frenchie, Ricky and Kim are incredible! I also like the look of Alden, jerk, yes, but I still think he's pretty hot, and he went off on that BROWNNOSER Marcus, I would've too! Ugh, I was so glad to see him and his "total package" GO!

I also agree with Robin too, however, I do NOT think Frenchie is going to make it to the final 2 shows, I just have a feeling. She is VERY GOOD, and belongs on Broadway!;)
