So our trip has been planned for a year, itinerary set, dining reservations made, fast passes set, and of course yesterday its announced that American idol will be holding auditions the day we're going to Disney springs. Just curious, does anyone know where exactly at Disney springs the auditions are being held? Is it even worth going there on that Thursday? Will it interfere with the shops? Any other day...ughhh

Glad to hear it is actually happening at Disney Springs. I thought I had originally heard it was going to happen at HS. Couldn't imagine forcing everyone auditioning to buy tickets or have some method they could get into the park without having tickets. I am sure THAT would have had major impact on people visiting HS. I am surprised it is only listed as happening one day. You would think they would milk more out of an actual Disney location where ABC doesn't have to pay anything to have it there.

It's sort of hard to tell what kind of effect it will have, since this is the first time an event like this has been held a DS. But folks who have finished auditions (plus any family/friends with them) may well stick around to shop/eat, particularly if they've driven from out of town to get there. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

I saw that. Just curious how it would affect the rest of Disney springs.
The QS Dining venues will be affected more than the shops as Robo noted.

Expect Blaze Pizza, Polite Pig, and Starbucks to be packed.

I don't expect that these auditions will be taped or feature the AI judges. This is probably a preliminary round. I'd bet the real auditions (the ones we see on television) will be held in a hotel or convention center in Orlando.

According to an article that was posted on the updates on this website yesterday there are past Idol winners going to be at the Orlando auditions. Its said
Jordan Sparks, Ruben Studdard and Kris Allen. Not sure if that will draw people or not. Thankfully we will be in a park that day. There is also a tryout
is Oregon that day so I would think that the judges would not be there or if there are any not all of them.

I would just plan to bus there and back and if you are eating there I would definitely plan to eat at a TS restaurant with an ADR. If it's too crazy just leave and head to a park.

The show that refuses to be cancelled for long, apparently

AI was worn out years before they pulled the plug. There are so many talent shows on now it's weird to think there's an audience for it. I guess 4000 people would be a huge influx of people to DS, but not sure how many of those folks are there to shop.

According to local news, the auditions will be held in the former Disney Quest building. I won't be going near Disney Springs that day. Traffic will be terrible. I-4 will probably be a mess as well.

The ABC website says: "The auditions will begin at 8 a.m. and will take place outdoors, therefore it's advised to bring water, sunscreen, and a hat."
