Loved, loved, loved this show! We are going back to see it for a second time on Sunday.

Nominated for Best Musical - and don't miss Green Day performing at the Tony Awards next week!

The musicians were so good, if you closed your eyes you thought you were listening to the CD.

I never paid any attention to Green Day in the past, now I can't stop listening to them. :rockband:

I'm in love with the OBC recording. Stark Sands does an incredible job as Tunny. Although...I must say I prefer John Gallagher, Jr. as Moritz in Spring Awakening.

Additionally, Tony Vincent does an amazing job as St. Jimmy!

Hoping to make it to NYC to see it before the OBC members start leaving...

Oh you really should try! Tony is fantastic as St. Jimmy. John Gallagher was the only cast member that did not come out to sign the Playbills after the show :guilty:

When you leave the show they have sharpie pens in the lobby and you can sign the wall - it's all graffiti and it's so cool.

Awwh, I hope I can go!

I'm having serious musical withdrawl...my last show was in November :rotfl:

American Idiot: The Musical's official Facebook group has a contest on their main page! You can win an all-expense paid trip to NYC to see the show AND to see Green Day in concert!

Thanks for the heads up! What did you see in November? We saw Promises Promises a few weeks ago and loved it. Sean Hayes did a wonderful job! Kristen Chenowith was, as always, fantastic.

I've seen it twice - once in previews and again about a week after it opened. Amazing! I'm hoping to see it again this summer. I loved the original album, and I thought they did a great job with this.

Both of the guys I saw as Moritz in Spring Awakening were in the show - John Gallagher Jr (who I'm sooo disappointined was not nominated for a Tony!) and Gerard Canonico, who played Moritz the 2nd time I saw SA.

And I loved Stark Sands - I was even more disappointed that he and Tony Vincent were also overlooked by the Tonys.

But it's an incredible show, one of the best musicals I've seen on Broadway in a long time.

Who did you buy your tickets through? Everything I find appear to be ticket resellers.

I got a mailer for the show just before it started previews, I think those were discounted tickets through Telecharge. The second time we tried the lottery for the first two rows, but we lost, so we got tickets from TKTS in Times Square.

You should definitely be able to get them through Telecharge. It's not sold out so there are definitely regular-priced tickets available.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit this, but Dh is going to the theater on his lunch hour to get tickets to see it a third time! :cloud9::love::lovestruc

We had so much fun yesterday, and the cast was amazing. We stayed for autographs and they were so happy when we said we hope they win the Tony next week.

Trivia question: If you are a Green Day fan, did you know about Foxboro Hot Tubs?

Some of the cast (John Gallagher does not come outside after the show, nor did Tony Vincent)

I'm totally planning on seeing it for the 3rd time at some point this summer, so I completely understand! :thumbsup2

(and wow, Stark Sands is adorable! great pics!)

I actually saw it with my parents the first time, which seems a little weird, but my mom loves that kind of music and was a big fan of the album. My dad, on the other hand, had never heard the album and actually thought the music was by Maroon 5! ("You're so hip," my mom told him)

But he absolutely loved the show, and now he's getting tickets for him and my mom to see it again on her birthday.

I was embarrassed because i'm probably older than your Mom :lmao:

You might not be! My mom got to see The Beatles in concert as a teenager, so she's been doing this kind of stuff for awhile! :thumbsup2

Well she obviously has good taste, as does her daughter ;):thumbsup2

(ask her about Foxboro Hot Tubs)

The cast will be performing on CBS this morning! The Tony's are Sunday! :cool1::cool1:

Ok, so now I have tickets to see American Idiot for the 4th time! I told DH I could understudy anyone in the cast!

I'm listening to 21st Century Breakdown right now, I think that should be their next production, it's like Act Two to AI.

:banana::lovestruc:yay::lovestruc

Billie Joe had a Q&A after the show yesterday. He looked so different!

Adrienne (his wife) and the director, Michael Mayer, were sitting on either side of him. They were in our row! (row A, mezzanine). I had to restrain myself from staring at them the entire time.

I'm still on cloud nine :cloud9: :cloud9:

So after wanting to go for quite some time, I have have tickets to see American Idiot on Saturday, December 11th. Thought we would combine it with a trip to New York to see the Rock. Christmas Tree.

Thanks for all the great reviews. I can hardly wait.

I noticed that somebody had taken pictures. Were they taken after the show? Can I take my camera into the theater? I am NOT going to take picture during the show of course.

yes, you can bring it in, of course just don't take pics during the show. When you enter theater you are allowed to sign the walls! here is a pic of our names in a heart:

We got some great shots of the cast outside after the show, signing our playbills. We are going back again this Sunday, I can't wait. I also have a rumor that Billie Joe will be back in January to play St. Jimmy - we saw him in the show on 10/3 and it was awesome. The pic of him without makeup was at the Q&A he did after the show on 9/19 - they did allow filming of that.
