I have a few American Girl dolls I would like to sell on Ebay. A few of them have loose limbs specifically the legs. Would you recommend tightening the limbs (as in I would do it myself, not send them off) before listing or would you just list them as is? How would you go about describing the amount of tightening each limb needs in a listing?

I see a lot of sellers list them as is, then the buyer can choose to send them in or do it themselves. It may make the dolls worth a couple dollars less in the auction, but doing it yourself may discourage a larger number of people from bidding. I would just list them and say limbs are mild, moderately, or severely loose. Also mention if they can still stand/pose on their own or not, that will help people determine how loose you are talking about. Also if you want to PM me I'd like to hear what dolls you have and what you eBay seller name is :)

I like it when the seller posts a picture showing them holding the doll flat by the torso supported only by one hand. Then you can see how much the legs hang down and if the arms will remain pointing up. Also a picture showing the standing unassisted if they will do that.

To me the other must thing is a picture showing how good of shape the hair is in. Please don't hide it with a hat or anything.

If you know how to tighten them, I would just go ahead and do it before listing them- I would pay more for a doll with tight limbs, because I'm always afraid to do it myself.

Thanks! This helps a lot. The 2 I currently have listed can both stand on their own. The 2 I still need to list can't stand on their own. I keep getting questions and don't know how to answer them accurately. I like the idea of the picture of the doll flat by the torso and using mild, moderate, and severe. I knew my dis-friends could help me out!
