Does curious as to how many people buy these dolls for their children? We have quite a few of them. Thankfully, grandma helps buy them. They just came out with the new doll for this year, Nellie. There is a lot of new stuff right now!!!

My daughter was given one when she was much younger (Molly). She still has her and is in great condition, has some of the things to go with it.

I bought a few for DD, 14, would love to get all of the dolls though. We bought a few outfits but nothing else. DD,7, on the other hand would destroy them, lol. She has colored her dolls and cut their hair.....eee gads I shudder to think what she would do to even one of the dolls made for younger girls.:faint:

We bought Kailie (sp?) for my daughter last year because Sarah has sun-bleached blond hair and brown eyes and so did the doll. That's not a very common combination so I just had to do it. Because she's so expensive, We've put her on a shelf to wait until Sarah is a little older. Grandma bought Sarah a Bitty Baby when Sarah turned 1, and that doll goes everywhere with her. One of these days I'm going to have to take Bitty Baby back to the store and see if they'll admit her to the doll hospital. The poor baby's head is soooo banged up!

My 10 yo niece has two - the first she got for Christmas from Santa, and the next she got for her birthday from my parents. I only have boys so far, so no dolls in my future.

By the way, my niece had her b-day party at the American Girl store in NYC, and it was an absolute blast - they did an outstanding job!

Hi,
I received Molly from my kindergarten class for an end of the year gift several years ago. I'm waiting for the first granddaughter and she will get Molly because I hope that will be the granddaughter's name!
:)
They are really nice and I love the baby one too. I get the catalogs and take them to school and the little girls just love to look at these and sometimes they take them home hoping to get one for a gift.

Do you use Molly in your classroom? Personally, if I was a teacher and my kids were old enough, she'd be a great one for history lessons. They all would. That is what I love about those dolls. My daughter is reading all of Samantha's books right now, and I couldn't ask for her to be reading better. They give a great history lesson.

With 3 girls we have a lot of the dolls but my MIL collects dolls so she has bought most of them.
My 7 yo has bitty baby, Molly, Kaya, Kailey
My 4 yo has bitty baby, bitty twins, Kit
and My 2 yo has bitty baby
plus a lot of accessories. I like them because of the books that go along with them. I even enjoy reading them to the girls!
Has anyone ever gone to American Girl Place? It sounds fun but expensive!

We gave Brittany one for Christmas. She takes very good care of her. We bought the desk & some accessories for her birthday.

Hallie, Hopscotch School

We've been to the AG Place in Chicago. I've been there three times. The 1st time we went to the restaurant. It was fun. We took my DD 6 and her best friend. We went to Club Libby Lu first, and they had make-overs. Then we went to the restaurant with their dolls. They all four were wearing matching outfits (two of those four were dolls). It was fun. The lunch was expensive, but mainly the expensive part was seeing ALL of that stuff and wanting to buy it all.

MY DD6 has: Lindsey, Kit, Kailey, American Girl of Today, Bitty Baby, and Hailie (Hopscotch Hill)

DD3 has: Bitty Baby, Hailie

Both of the girls have and share The Bitty Baby Twins.

My daughters love American girl dolls. Thankfully, grandmom bought them for the girls as they can be pricey. They are beautiful dolls though. I've found good American girl doll furniture on-line and beautiful American girl dolls clothes at area craft shows. My dd(8) has Samantha, Molly and an American girl doll today. My dd (5 1/2) got her first doll, Kirsten, for Christmas. They love to play with them.

I don't own one, but want to really bad! As soon as Lauren is deemed "old enough" I will buy her one and try to convince DH to get me "my" doll as well. I fell in love with the whole collection when the stories came out. For the first time in my life there was stuff with "my" name on it. I have been to the store a couple of times to look at "my" doll.

BTW ~ Just see my name below and you can figure out which one I want!! LOL

OK, why is my signature not there?? My name is Kirsten since it is not working.

My DD8 has Bitty Baby and Kailey. My mom gets them, which I am very glad for. Kimber takes good care of them and the clothes and accessories.

I think they are pretty cool. At least something different from Kim Possible and all that. (Not that there is anything wrong w/ KP, just something a little less commericial.)

I have shopped at the NYC store. It is very nice. After I stop working (in 4 weeks) I am taking my two DD to the store for lunch and the show. They are both very excited. DD 10 has American Girl Today doll and DD 7 has Bitty Twins.

Have to say that the customer service is excellent. When the NYC store first opened last November, a co-worker and myself bought a ton of stuff. It wasn't until I was on the train going home that I realized that the teeter totter I had purchased was not in my shopping bags. I was very upset about this because it was a Friday and I wasn't going to be back at work for a few weeks since I was having surgery on the next Monday. The toy was to be a birthday present for DD 7. I wasn't going to be able to go back to the store until after her birthday. When I got home I tried to call the store but there was no answer because the store was not officially opened yet. It turned out that we had gone to the soft opening. (Kind of a dry run) I didn't know what to do so I called the Chicago store's theater ticket number. It was the only way I could get a live person. I explained what had happened to a very nice women. She put me in touch with the customer service department for catalogue sales. The agent didn't know that the NYC store had opened yet and was very excited to hear about the new store. I told her what had happened, not knowing if I would even be believed because I had no proof that I didn't have the item. I was put on hold for a few minutes. She promptly came back on the line and told me that they would send me another one express mail so that I would have it in time for DD's birthday. All I had to do was give them my receipt number and my address. Sure enough, I received the toy in just a couple of days. They were fantastic!!!

I was just going to tell you I couldn't see your name. When I hit reply I saw it. I have Kirsten. My maiden name is Larson which is Kirsten's last name. I really didn't need a dool, but my step-mom bought her when we went on our trip last year.

Yes, we've gone to the one in NYC. It's fun. Same prices as the books. Lots more selection. The store is HUGE!!

I had the Molly doll when I was about 10. My grandma helped make all of the clothes, so we never spent money on outfits. She had like a million outfits, and I would love to brush her hair and dress her up in the different outfits. I read all of the books and wanted all of the dolls. I grew out of it though...

My 3 year old daughter has the Molly doll, Bitty Baby and the Bitty Twins. She loves them all. The accessories and outfits are so cute. :D :D

Between my two girls, we own every one of the AG dolls, plus 2 Bitty babies, plus the twins, plus lots of outfits. And now there's another one to buy??? Guess what one of my daughter's name is? Nellie!

We've been to the AG store in Chicago (the Shrine, as I call it). We looked through the catalogues and set a spending limit with the girls before we went...it was still expensive, but could have been worse.

Hmm, do I need to ask if you will be buying Nellie? My DD wants both Samantha and Nellie. They have a special if you buy them both. Very tempting. I'll have to talk to Grandma on that one.
