American girl dissapointment...

This doll isn't even 24 hours old and her eyelash fell off! My DD (8) was putting a new dress on her and came running into the room screaming! Now she's so upset and saying she doesn't want to get it fixed because that takes a few weeks and she is begging my husband to take it to work tomorrow and bring it to the AG store. My question is, if I can convince him to do it, will they exchange it? I have the receipt- and I think it was defective since she's very gentle and I'm sure the dolls are made better than to break when simply changing their clothing- I hate to have to deal with the whole "American Girl Hospital" thing and I absolutely refuse to pay to ship it for repair... bottom line is- my daughter is devastated (she's a drip overdramatic) and I need this fixed ASAP! any advice?

I would think they would exchange it in a heartbeat! My granddaughter has had her two dolls for several years, and they are still in great shape. They are made to last.

What doll was it? They're usually of very high quality. I would see if they would pay for shipping back and new return shipping, considering the time frame.

You should be able to return/replace with no problem. AG is usually good about this!

I think if you can convince DH to take it back to the store with the receipt they would exchange it for you. What doll was it, just curious? One of my American girl of today dolls has a funny eye that is sometimes half closed if she laying back just a bit.

It is the Elizabeth doll- we are going to bring it into the city with us when we go on Saturday. I'll let you know what happens...

They'll fix it. It had to have been defective, I have 7 yo AG dolls in great condition that have been played with very roughly.
