Is the American Express Lounge still a perk if you buy your tickets with it ?

I'm still deciding where to buy my Universal tickets. Undercover Tourist and Universal.com are the same price. Universal.com offers a $150 discount coupon book. I saw it posted somewhere showing what coupons were in it. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction. What to see if we would use it.

It is still there. All you need is your AMX card and your ticket. We stop in all the time for a bottle of water and a snack.

We're not going till next August but this is the first I've heard about the AE card and the perks. Where exactly do you go to get these perks?

I was told by the TM in the lounge that you need to have BOUGHT the tickets with the AMEX card

we were there a month ago, and was prepared to show purchase order, but nothing on the order said HOW I paid my tickets with the AMEX card.

went in, pleasant person at desk asked: (as she typed in stuff in computer)
what kind of tickets did we have?
what amex card did you purchase your tickets with.?
(I think she asked my name & where we were from)

that was it.
did not show them anything!
although I did have my amex card ready to show them.

we went in several times, they have water, chips & granola bars, plus places to charge your phones. & a nice clean private bathroom.

I'll post pictures tomorrow after I dig them out.

Thanks for this info! I was wondering if they offered sodas, but it appears it's only water, which is still good! Would love to see the pics if you're able to post.

Has anyone tried accessing the lounge using tickets bought through UT? Or is this only limited by purchasing directly through Universal? I read the fine print, but did not see any restrictions.

I have my UT confirmation, and used my Amex. The confirmation email shows the cc # I used, enough to match it back to the Amex card.

All they want to see an amx card of yours. Doesn't matter if you used it for tickets or not.

I, too, was under the impression (seems like I read it on Universal's site) that you could only use the lounge if you purchased tickets directly thru Universal with your AmEx card. However, I recently read a TR on the Disboards, which I kept this portion as I thought I would give it a try:

American Express Lounge: We used this several times. Technically, it's for people who purchased park tickets using an Amex, but they seem to let anyone with an Amex use it. It's hidden on the West side of Shrek (Mummy side). Ask a worker where it is if you can't find it. It's only open from 12-5 P.M. You get free bottled water (not very cold), granola bars, and chips. They encourage you to take some with you when you leave too. There is also a bathroom in the lounge.

I used the Serve card for the discounts on food and merchandise... never tried for the lounge though.
