American changed our flight

I have not had this happen to me before and wondered if anyone knew the answer. I've chatted with an agent and she wasn't sure. American changed our flight to Disney in November. The flight we booked was cancelled. American put us on a flight but I would like a different flight if possible due to the time it is arriving at MCO. I'd like to take an earlier flight that is available and get there sooner. Would American allow me to change it since I didn't chose the flight they put me on without paying more money? I'm hoping someone might know the answer!

American did that once to me and I called them.

They switched my flight to the one I thought was better for me

As long as they changed your flight time by either more than 30 or 60 min (can’t remember which it is) you have right to change for no fees. For cancel flight for sure. Their rep should have known that. Escalate up if you have too.

or if new flight is cheaper you have right to full refund on other flight since they cancelled.

Pre-covid new flights never cheaper but these days feels like anything is possible!

Since your flight was canceled, you are entitled to a full refund to your original method of payment, and American acknowledges this on their website.

We will refund a non-refundable ticket (or the value of the unused segment of your trip) to the original form of payment if:
You cancel within 24 hours of booking (and booked at least 2 days before departure).
We cancel your flight
We make a schedule change that results in a change of more than 4 hours to your departure time

They just did this to me on my flight to Disney in 3 weeks! The flight they put me on did not work for me so I called and the lady said yes, you have the option to change one time with no additional $ if the flight you choose should happen to be higher!
