Have seen what looks like a good deal for next year on expedia - flying AA from Manchester via Chicago on way there and via JFK on way home.

Have done a search and can't see anyone saying anything too negative about them - it's miles cheaper than direct and that doesn't bother me, although I've never flown via Chicago and the only time I went via JFK was in 1998!

I really didn't think we could afford to go back next year, but this is £876 each at Easter for 10 days staying at Lake Eve which looks ok - again, does anyone know different?

Thanks

does the £876 include the hotel? or is that just for the flight? if it includes the hotel, then it's a good price....

i think American uses their older configured planes on the manchester route (767 instead of the 777)....which means no seat back entertainment (although maybe they'll update by easter)..

but if that doesn't bother you, then american is fine...

DS is flying american indirect in august because the rates were so much lower than the others..

as for Chicago O'hare and JFK....
O'hare is very big and slightly confusing, but it's fine and you speak the language, so how bad could it really be?

your experience at JFK, which is a HUGE airport, depends on which terminal you're in....(the Delta terminal for example will make you think you've landed in the third world)..
given that you're flying american, you should be in terminal 8, which is probably the nicest terminal at JFK....
if you fly in and out of terminal 8, then it's fine...
even if you have to change terminals, it's not the end of the world (there is an airtrain to take you around from terminal to terminal), but again, since you're on american, you probably will stay in terminal 8...

thank you - we flew delta the one time I've flown via JFK - I understand your comment!

Have managed to successfully negotiate Atlanta and Newark before so I'm hoping Chicago would be ok too

The £876 includes the hotel - seems too good to be true!!

We had a look around the Lake Eve resort a few years ago when I think it first opened. It's very nice. Common areas and pool clean and well presented. Didn't see the condo rooms but look nice in leaflet we picked up. Only negative was we got a bit badgered by a timeshare seller in the lobby, but a firm no thanks did the job!
Can't quite remember what was in the local area food/ shop wise but can't remember there being much in walking distance, although that might have changed since.
Never flown AA so can't help on that point.

We've flown with AA several times to CA and we've never had a problem with them. They are in fact one of our favourite airlines to fly with. I've negotiated O'Hare and JFK several times by myself and although they are huge airports I never had a problem, so I'm sure that you'll be fine! :thumbsup2 Sorry I don't know anything about Lake Eve. :goodvibes

thanks for all the feedback ... we've had an about turn and booked something else now!
