In at least one city where both airlines operate (Columbus, OH), America West is matching Southwest's sale fares to Orlando. We bought America West tickets for $146.50 each (incl all taxes and fees) for Dec 7-15. Their departure times were more convenient than Southwest.
A couple days ago these tickets cost $196.50. In fact the new fare wasn't even on their web site tonight -- I had to call it in. (I was lucky to get through; their lines are very busy.)
There's no reason to believe America West's sale will last any longer than Southwest's (Aug 8), so buy now!
