Hi all,

I just want a bit of info on the Sci-Fi restaurant. How would rate the service/food/ambiance etc?

Thanks!

Ambience: Unusual, entertaining, distracting for smaller kids, dark, cool (A/C), like eating outside at night in a car. Not the restaurant for good conversation.

Food: Uh. so-so, Burgers were pretty good, but we were on free dining. Fries - yuck, desserts, yuck (though my dd said her sundae was great). Some people are pretty big fans, but all agree stick with burgers and milk shakes.

Service: Just ok. I think, like all places, it depends on your individual server.

Overall: We don't plan on eating there again, but others say its their not to be missed.

Hope that helps, happy to answer any particular questions.

Go for a milkshake and skip the food. Everyone should go just once so they see what it is about but once is enough. We gave it a second try and I wish we hadn't. Food isn't very good and we don't care for the atmosphere. You sit in the front and back seat of cars and watch trailers for B movies. We find it too quiet! You can't really carry on a conversation with those in the back seat so you end up watching the movie.

I've eaten there twice and had good service both times. Food was nothing to rave about, not bad though. But I wouldn't miss it because of the atmosphere.

we were disappointed... dh was ticked that we wasted free ts credits on it... my salad had a ton of chicken but barely any lettuce... the waiter offered all the "extras" to the kids which kinda irked me (glow cubes, special drinks, etc) so in addition to the "wasting" of ts credits, we also had a bill to pay (i know, we could have said no, but he was juggling some of the cubes making a big deal out of it)... also we're "pooh" sized and were rather uncomfortable in the car, the service was inconsistent (brought appy's and meal out w/in mins of each other, add to that limited narrow table space for four plates/a few glasses and the ketchup bottle has to be held in your lap! then took 45 mins to bring us dessert and when he did it was not what we ordered!)

anyway, it's no longer a "must do" or even a do-over! LOL!

Atmosphere is about the best in WDW (themeing wise).

Food is edible, I've never left hungry from there. Lunch is usually better because it's burgers and fries and they are pretty good, we had dinner there in May and both were fine with our selection.

Service has always been great.

We were just there about a week ago and I loved the atmosphere at Sci-Fi. Very relaxing & quiet-a welcome change of pace at Disney!
The food was ok. My DH really enjoyed the milkshakes! Burgers were ok-catfish sandwich was ok, too. Huge portions! I did like the spinach & artichoke dip! We had excellent service and everyone around us seemed to really enjoy the interactions with the servers! I was glad we tried it as it was a fun-and relaxing!- experience. ps Stay away from the apple crisp for dessert-yuck!!

atmosphere is cute unless...

you are a small family then you get stuck as tag a longs to a larger group. don't know if this is normal but our waiter waited to take our order till the larger group was ready ...waited to bring our food till the larger group was done with their appe and got the main course, then served them first!( we didn't order an appe so we sat & twiddled our thumbs till they finished)... waited to bring our bill till the larger group was done with their dessert( didn't order that either as by this time we were tired of being 2nd cousins twice removed to total strangers and just wanted to escape!!!!)... also got to listen to all the other family's gossip, jokes , comments ect since the seats in the car are so close :( (they weren't trying to be friendly and include us,just were loudish)...sorry but an hr and 45 mins for 1 burger( burnt beyond recognition) and 1 bowl of soup means we'll never go again

btw there was more empty than full cars so we could have had another car but they chose to do this to every couple we saw

We ate at Sci Fi just last Friday (9/2) and we had a great time! I agree that it is hard to carry on a conversation and it was kinda hard to read the menu in the semi-darkness but our food was delicious! The kids got the kids appy of fruit/cheese and yogurt dip and we got the onion rings (which DH absolutely loved!). Kids had mac&cheese & chicken nuggets (their usual) and ate really well. DH got the ribs, which he said were great and I got the reuben which was perfectly done and yummy. The fries are the matchstick kind of fries, but I thought they were delicious. Kids got sundaes for dessert which they liked, DH got the moon pies which he was kinda too full to eat and I got the cheesecake which was also yummy, but I was kinda full too and couldn't quite do it justice! We would go again! :bounce:

We're doing an early "dinner" stop there just for the ambience and don't want to spend TS credits from our meal plan there, so will pay cash. I may order the Meteor kids meal for DS8. Can we just order fries and drinks for the 4 adults, even though the menu doesn't offer the option of just fries alone?

We were also there on 9/2 for dinner and had a great time! The atmosphere is really great and the food was very good. We had an excellent server and everything was just as we asked for it. We really enjoyed it and would definitely go again. :cool1:

We went for our first time at Sci Fi in August. My DS loved it so much we had to go twice. He LOVED all the movie trailers. We're going back in October. IMO, it's all about the ambiance. I'll agree with the other posts about the food being just so-so. Service was also just so-so. The first time they messed up my mom's order and weren't real apologetic. I must say the onion rings were good and the chili was also good. The milk shakes were huge but so thick you had to eat them with a spoon. I would say it's definitely a "must try once" if for nothing else then for the atmosphere.

We had a great experience back in December there!
6 of us - me and DH in the back, BIL and SIL in the middle, and MIL and FIL in the front seat.

it was quite cold in there...MIL and SIL commented on how cold it was. Next thing we know...our waiter had brought over jackets for them to wear.

Most of us get burgers/shakes (best meal there IMO) I believe MIL had a salad (which was huge).

At the end of our meal, while our plates were being cleared, I looked at my watch, noticed the date, turned to DH and said "You proposed to me at the magic kingdom 2 years ago today!" Our waiter heard us and brought us over this huge Sundae (on the house) with a candle in it. (all of us were too stuffed to order dessert) Our waiter said "congratulations" to us and told us to enjoy the rest of our day.

It was really really sweet. (the waitstaff AND the sundae! ehheh)

We do enjoy this place...yes it's dark and campy...but so totally different from everything else!

Awesome! We made reservations last night for lunch on Oct 4th. Can't wait!

We loved it! The atmosphere was awesome. The kids just loved the cars and the movies they were showing. We decided to go against everything we had been told and actually ordered something besides burgers! lol We were glad we did. I had the flat iron steak sandwich, dh had the ribs. Both were soooooo good! The desserts were just as good. We will definately be returning to Sci-Fi!!

Do they ever update or add to the film clips/trailers that are shown? It would be nice if they would!
