Amazon

We get a lot of random stuff on amazon, car seat bags for travel recently, a Polaroid with film, tons of toys books and games for our kids and gifts, the biggest benefit is the two day shipping with the prime membership, nothing better than not having to go out in freezing weather in the winter and still having the items quickly and makes it so easy to hid Christmas gifts from the kids

That's us. We buy the most random stuff on Amazon.

We live in a town with no shopping and I no longer drive so Amazon is a lifesaver for me. I can Christmas shop, buy everything I need from a new set of spoons to a new wheelchair. I get several amazon packages every week.

Amazon can be great for random odds and ends. I bought a pair of hiking boots off of Amazon a few months ago that were half the price of the same boots at Dick's just in a different color (and I liked the color on Amazon better anyway). I also recently got a foam roller from Amazon (1/3 the price of Target), specialty kitchen supplies (not sold in stores around me), specific brands of food items I use in recipes that I cannot reliably find in stores near me, etc. Amazon is not really great for your every day needs, but it does come in handy to comparison shop or buy things not available in stores locally. I also use prime music daily on my hour long commute to and from work as well (we don’t pay for any separate streaming services). So there are other benefits as well to consider as far as Amazon Prime is concerned.

Sometimes I find a better price on Amazon, sometimes I don’t. A few days ago an item on Amazon was cheaper on the sellers own site (whose site came up on the same initial search I did for the item), and it too included free shipping. The difference was around $7 on a sixty dollar item.

So far as taxes, I am sure Amazon is following all current rules for federal taxes, and uses whatever deductions/ways to lower their tax bill available to them, just like everyone else. On the state level, my understanding was it depends on whether the company has a physical presence in the state. A number of years back Amazon purchases had no state tax for my state, but now after building some warehouses here, do charge it. I know there was some talk of getting rid of that physical presence idea, but I never heard that actually happened.

In MO they started collected tax starting Feb 1, 2017 they did not have any Amazon warehouse there when they started collecting taxes (they do now but not when they started collecting taxes). It was Amazon that announced they would be collecting taxes not a state-law issue.

But perhaps a state law influenced that though. In 2013 MO passed a law saying online retailers have to collect sales tax if the company received business referrals from an affiliate in Missouri. After the law was passed,Amazon ended its Associates Program in Missouri that paid advertising fees to web entrepreneurs for customers referred to Amazon(com).

We've been paying sales tax in KS since 2005 if by sold by Amazon but I know there was some grumbling from people we knew in MO even though in MO they are only started the State sales tax rate.

I started this thread I finally found something that was cheaper. Milk bones brushing treats usually get them from chewy for 5.99 for 36 of them they went up to 10.35 a box. Looked at amazon and got 56 for 9.84 a box. It was a add on item so I got three boxes. Still love chewy and will continue to use them on other things that they are cheaper on or the same price.

I always pay sales tax on the stuff I order from Amazon, but I live in WA and there's Amazon stuff all over the place so they have to collect it. I'm not sure if it's what the new story is about, but I know previously it had to do with whether Amazon had a physical location in the state, like a distribution center.
I sometimes pay taxes and sometimes do not pay taxes. It depends if the item comes from the distribution center from my state in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

It is only April and I have already placed over 60 orders (it's actually probably a lot more than that but I'm going to make myself feel good and say only 60). My cats use the Breeze litterbox. The supplies are cheaper on Amazon than anywhere else I can find (if anyone can find them cheaper please tell me. I love the system but it can be expensive to keep up). Lightning deals always do me in - I get so many gifts throughout the year with those. I just ordered Advantix, as well as Welactin for my pets because the prices were better than other sites. Awesome spice rack? Amazon. Knock off Clarisonic? Amazon. Forgot my teenager needed a bathing suit for our upcoming night at a hotel? Ordered it on Amazon as he and I were watching the younger kids in swim lessons. I love the convenience of being able to order things so quickly anywhere I am. Plus I love that when I remember to order things before I need them, I can get $1 digital credits by selecting no rush shipping. I typically read whatever books are free on my Kindle, but if I start a series and only the first book is free, the credits make me feel less guilty for buying the rest of the series.

One benefit of Amazon, in my case Prime, is that I can order things and send them somewhere else. For example, my elderly mother needed something. She lives 45 miles away. I was able to find it at a good price and have it shipped to her doorstep in 2 days. The price was good and it saved me a bunch of time and effort.

We order things and send them to relatives for Christmas. Sometimes the shipping costs more than the toy, if I sent it myself. The parents are happy to wrap it for us.

There are all kinds of things that are priced low or are hard to find. I would spend hours hunting some of this stuff down myself and also burn a lot of gas. Recent examples include these specific items: Bras, auto parts, nitril gloves, certain small appliances, tennis shoes, specialty cleaning chemicals for cars and boats, usb cables, books, wi fi router, some school and classroom supplies, womens tops, oversized hat for the beach.

Love love love Amazon. Probably too much. Sometimes i have to take a break. I do comparison
shopping also and for me it is rarely cheaper or i will pay the minimal extra to get it faster.
I use to use Ebay alot but now switched to Amazon. The shipping is all over the place regarding the time.

A few reasons they are my go to.1 Racking up digital credits is easy choosing no rush shipping. Half the time
i still get it in 2 or 3 days. 2 Unique things from 3rd party sellers. 3. Also they started offering Amazon Lockers.
Where you can pick it up instead of having it delivered. There is one at a gas station across the street from
my house. Last week we were at Disneyland the day 6 packages were being delivered so i switched them to
the locker where we picked them up later that night. I HATE the thought of packages sitting on my porch.

I live in Arkansas so I appreciate how much Walmart has done for our state. I would love to order from them - but they are so inferior to Amazon. I love being able to find almost anything I want and to receive it within 2 days. When I've ordered from Walmart if they didn't have what I ordered they substituted something "close" which was often not acceptable.

My DH and I have two homes - one in Arkansas and one in New Orleans. When I order something online it is important to me to know when it will arrive.

I have used Amazon extensively for the past 2 weeks. I've ordered sailor tops and specialty shoes for Dapper Day. I have wide feet, a high arch and I have specific styles I'm looking for which aren't available anywhere close to me. It's so wonderful to find a great selection in the colors and size I need. I sometimes order 3-4 different shoes to see which one(s) I'll like and will fit. I've had to send most of them back, but it's free, quick, and easy. The refund is issued as soon as I drop the items off for reshipping. I've also been battling kidney stones (had surgery yesterday) so I like being able to buy things from my computer. I've never appreciated Amazon as much as I have this month.

I have the Amazon app and often when I’m shopping in person I’ll scan the barcode to see if it’s cheaper there. If it is I’ll put it in my cart or on one of my many wish lists. Often I’ll look later at the item on Amazon and not buy it. I do less impulse buying now. It was very useful when I was laid up for weeks after knee surgery. I watched a lot of shows and movies for free on Amazon Prime and has lots of things delivered.

Last night DS7 watched an episode of the Muppet Babies reboot for free on
Prime.

Prime is great if you have kids that go away to college. Real easy to send them anything they need. Also we have Amazon Student and it's 1/2 price of the regular prime with a .edu email address, so kids use it to rent college books too.

I don’t shop Anazon for the prices, but for the convenience. I can get almost anything delivered in 2-days and 90% of that same day (or next day depending on when I order).

I tend to order stuff that would have me running around to a bunch of different places trying to find what I wanted. My latest examples are shoe trees/stretchers and handbag shapers (I don’t what they’re really called but they’re foam or inflatable thingies to keep purses in storage the right shape). Plus random things like disposable cosmetic spoons. I don’t even know where I would have gone to a physical store to find these things let alone price compare.

I also tend to order new iPhone cables and such-the amazon basics and some other brands are much cheaper than what I’d find in my local Best Buy or something.

I used to do prime pantry for household goods but ow that I can use Instacart for Costco or BJs, I do that. I guess not very budget minded but I’m usually willing to pay for convenience. An extra $20 for somebody else to wrestle TP, paper towels, detergent, and bottled water out of Costco and bring it to my door is more than worth it!!

I ordered some milk bone dental treats. They tried to deliver yesterday but we wasn’t home. Don’t know why I have to be here the package was only 27 dollars. I order it all the time from chewy never had any problems. I’m new to amazon is there somewhere I check where they can just leave it on the steps without have to sign for it?

I couldn't tell you the last time I actually had to sign for something. It's been ages and ages ago.

When you bought it did it say something like "seller requires signature" or something like that?
