Amazon Warehouse Deals?

I'm looking at a bike for DD. I found one on Amazon, offering 2 day shipping, but it says "used, very good condition will come repackaged" and fulfilled by Amazon warehouse deals. So what are the chances of this actually being used? I'm completely fine with something just not in the original box but I would think an actually used item would have been returned due to damage.

I've purchased a couple kitchen appliances from Amazon warehouse that said that, they came in the original package but it was damaged. They were not used. I don't know if they have to call it used because it was returned.

The warehouse deals are a bit of a crap shoot, but you can always return something that isn't actually in the condition it was described as being. I've bought a few things with no problem, but I also bought a cell phone that was described as "like new" that definitely wasn't. The packaging was an older version of the packaging the phone now comes in, indicating it was at least 6 months old, it was dirty inside, and the phone had clearly been used - probably not heavily, but it was definitely used. But I returned it no problem.

When buying items for myself, I still look for a Warehouse deal on many things. So clearly the one time I had a problem wasn't something I consider a big deal!

I usually buy the Warehouse deal when I can. Most items have been returned for one reason or another, but shouldn't have been used.

Since it says used but in very good condition then it was probably used. Not sure how they would be able to return a bike that has been used a ton but you never really know. I've never done a amazon warehouse deal but i have bought best buy open box items. Those are usually just things they find in the store that someone has opened that they shouldn't have so they sell for less or like a camera that someone returned that was open but everything is inside. I believe they only will put stuff back on the shelf as open item if it had been with in a certain return period but I've never had a problem with that as they let you see it before you purchase it.

Yup....same experience here. It's totally a crapshoot. I bought a +1 rx snorkel mask - good condition, but fulfillment was wrong. They sent me a -5. Totally wrong rx :D. Tried to exchange - they sent me the wrong one again! I finally gave up on that one. Ordered HVAC filters - 1 of the 6 filters was damaged (but easily repairable with some tape) and price was really good compared to buying new. So kept those. Ordered something else - can't remember - and it arrived perfect - just like new. Amazon is very good about their return policy.

The only things I won't order used from warehouse are any highly personal items - like a snorkel you breathe through, toothbrush, etc.

I just bought 3 lights for the hallway. One was in Very Good condition and the other two were Like New. The VG one was scratched on the glass, but you wouldn't notice it something kooking really hard. One of the LN's was bent, which I didn't notice until putting it up, but wasn't worth returning it (and adjusted it anyhow). Saved $5/light and it was going in my rental, so worked well. (They were $30 lights to start with.)

This is interesting to know because my husband and I have been eyeing a fancy Dyson fan that came up as a deal of a day at 50% off, but was one of these items. We had serious reservations as we weren't sure why they would take back such an expensive item used and it said the items may be refurbished. I bought a refurbished vaccuume once at Big Lots that lasted for years (we finally tossed it due to vaccuuming the cord up and damaging it ourselves) but it was only $25 or so. I have bought open package things at Target but they were never actually electronics, just things like cases for electronics. I know one or two people who had serious pushback from Amazon trying to return electronics NIB so I wonder how/why they take in these items.

I've bought several things from Amazon Warehouse deals, and I've never had any problem! Usually the packaging is damaged or something else- but like others have said, you can always return it!

Product descriptions straight from the Amazon FAQ.

Like new:
A "like new" item sold on Amazon Warehouse Deals is in perfect condition, but due to the condition of the packaging, it does not meet Amazon.com standards for new product. Returned items with minor packaging defects are classified as "like new."

Very good:
If an item has cosmetic damage or blemishes, shows slight signs of use, has minor accessories missing, or the packaging has been replaced to better protect the item, we will assign the condition of "very good."

Good:
If an item has large cosmetic damage or blemishes and/or missing accessories, we will assign the condition of "good." It's possible the packaging has been replaced to better protect the item.

Acceptable:
If an item shows signs of wear including scratches, dents, and other aesthetic problems, we will assign the condition of "acceptable." It's possible the packaging has been replaced to better protect the item, manuals may be missing, and the item may contain third-party attachments.

Hope this helps someone. I've never had to send anything back I've purchased through warehouse deals, but I"ve only bought "like new" condition. As long as it's not a gift for someone else, and available in warehouse deals, this is how I would buy.
