I sat and waited for the countdown on an Ipod touch..hit the select options key picked the choices and hit add to cart...before my computer could load it, GONE! ... less than 9 seconds into the deal. Oh well, I just have no clue what I could have done to be any faster. :badpc:

I've been watching those deal and they go so quick. I watched a bunch of items sell out 2 seconds after they were released to purchase.:confused3

Same experience with a TV at exact same time you tried. It is clearly a gimmick by Amazon (as it went immediately to "waitlist full"). Yet, the item I was waiting for is still available from Amazon (not a 3rd party) at the regular price. Amazon playing the old false advertising game.

Not sure about false advertising but they do offer a very limited number with each deal. I've been lucky to pick up a few things today and also have missed out on a number of others that I have tried to get.

It's not a gimmick you have to remember how many other people are watching those deals and have their mouse hovering over them just like you and are clicking as they come available. Thousands upon thousands of people watch that site all the time at any given time.

As far as the tv is concerned, whoever mentioned it, you have to watch daily. That tv has been offered at least 3-4 days this week in a row. :)

Good luck everyone!:)

It is a gimmick. A limited number of items, and they use it to keep people on their site all day in hope they will do other shopping. P pretty much defines "gimmick."

Not that they don't have the right of course.

I know how things work there because I worked there. I wouldn't exactly call it a gimmick.:headache:

What was the lightening deal on the IPod Touches? There was no way that I could have stayed up to try for one since I have to work at 0700 today, and after I saw how quickly I missed a deal on an XBox game last night at 8:10 pm (I clicked the icon in a millisecond, and officially joined a wait-list for apparently nothing, since I did not get to purchase the game for $25, LOL), I figured I didn't stand a chance at scoring an ITouch.

gim·mick [gim-ik] noun
1. an ingenious or novel device, scheme, or stratagem, especially one designed to attract attention or increase appeal.

2. a concealed, usually devious aspect or feature of something, as a plan or deal: An offer that good must have a gimmick in it somewhere.

What would you call it then?

I clicked on an item the second it went to deal but the price didn't update and then when the price updated item gone..this seems worse than last year...

What was the TV deal? Dh will probably kill me for getting another TV, but I really want one for the sunroom off of the kitchen so I can watch the news in there while cooking.

Lol, we are the same person. Spent all holiday visit watching tv in the sunroom at my Mom's house and I want one now too. Happy shopping!

How fast is your Internet connection? That can play a big part in it.

That happened to me last year but I was able to get on the waitlist and I actually got the item for the lightning deal price.

Please remember that some people that are watching have faster internet service than others!

Not just faster Internet...But 'techies' write or buy applications that can actually watch the atomic clock and make their 'mouse click' be at a milisecond after it hits the desired time. No way a human is going to beat that. Likely enough of these people (or even the same ones, these techies might be buying a bunch by using work-arounds to quantity limits).

Same thing happens on those ebay auctions that suddenly beat the price by a dollar at literally the last second.

I got all three deals I went after, plus two that I was waitlisted on! It does happen! One of those deals (the ps3 bundle) sold out in under a minute! I was watching like a hawk though :confused3

Dell did that last night. I was within 2 seconds past midnight and the laptops were gone. Although, they were quick to redirect me to a model $200 more. I think not! I'll shop elsewhere and won't bother with their site again.

Dell was a joke, I was online checking g out with credit card info and then the servers went crazy and booted me back to the home page and by then they were gone. Online rep said sorry and offered me $100 off the $600 original price. No thanks!
