Amazon shipping question

I qualified for the free shipping on my order from Amazon. Unfortunately it says that by taking the free shipping it will take an extra 5-9 days to receive. Is this really so or do they just say that to try to get you to take the faster shipping (pay for it!). It's just that I was hoping to have one of the cd's this weekend for a gift.

Sometimes the free shipping is quick, other times it takes the full 5 - 9 days. Sometimes, with free shipping, they don't even ship for three or four days (even if it says it's available in 24 hours).

I wouldn't use this option if you have a deadline like this weekend.

I ordered something last friday and had the free shipping and got it on Tuesday... never had an issue with Amazon delivery.

I order frequently, and always choose Super Saver Shipping when it is available. Once I had an order take the full time. Every other time I have received it within a few days (depending on when it said it would ship out). It's a gamble if you need it before that time, but if not, it sure pays to use it.

I always check the "super saver" (I'm cheap) and most times the package arrives in just a few days. Rarely does it take any longer.

Wow, I must have really bad luck then. Almost every time it takes the full time when I use free shipping.

I wonder if it depends on your location?

I'm not sure about location. In my tracking I think it ships out of the NE, but I can't remember for sure. I know my packages usually go through Memphis. Books and CD's usually arrive quickly, but the one order I waited a long time for was books. I contacted them to check on it (since it said it would ship in 24 hours and didn't) and Customer Service told me with Super Saver shipping they didn't have to ship out in 24 hours, they could put other customers in the "front of the line" that chose regular or expedited shipping. Like I said, though, that only happened to me once.

I always have great shipping from Amazon. I just ordered a book for Marie a couple days ago, it is on the way, probably will have by Thursday. Also great experiences with www.overstock.com, www.ecost.com, and www.buy.com.
