I ordered an item from amazon and I tracked the package and it says ready for pick up what does that mean? Where am I suppose to pick up from?:confused3

Did they use PostSmart?
Post Office is likely.
You can contact Amazon to ask if need be.

When I see that on mine it means it hasn't been picked up from the shipping facility yet. It's packaged and labeled with a tracking # and will be picked up for shipment soon. Could it be that?

I called Amazon. They said it was an error with usps scanning. What else is new. It is out for delivery. I should get it today. What confused me was the tracking went from out for delivery straight to ready for pickup. But it did not say pickup from where. I know Amazon has a Amazon locker pickup option.

So was "pickup" the first status, or the next? Did you have it sent to an amazon pickup location? Did it go from delivery to pickup after your phone call?

I'd call again.

But usps's system generally means that "delivered" means to the local post office, and the next step is the mail carrier bringing it to you. This isn't always on the same day.

The pickup part is confusing.

And the important thing to know is that amazon reps can't see anything more than you can with tracking. They just have more experience with it.

In shipment tracking there was a time line.
Shipping soon was first dot, second dot was shipped, then it said in transit,
the third dot was arrival at facility then last dot showed ready for pick up. That was the confusing part. Pick up where? But I received the package about 30 minutes age. Now the tracker has changed. The third dot now shows out for delivery and the last dot has delivered. I thought it was all very confusing. the CS rep agreed and said they called my local usps and was told it was an error in their scanning.

I think it meant ready for carrier pick-up.

:thumbsup2 yep, this! The tracking is rarely "real time" and I often find it arrives at my doorstep before it shows it's on the delivery truck or with the mail carrier (depending on shipping method).

Glad you got your package!

Yeah, this happens.

When you order, it'll show that it leaves via UPS or FedEx. Depending on how it goes from there, it will be "delivered" to your local post office via SmartPost and then will go out for delivery to you from there.

FedEx and UPS know where your package is going. USPS only knows where it's been. That makes the tracking a little less useful.
