Amazon Prime Day-July 16th-17th

We have the VTOMAN Jump 1500x And would HIGHLY recommend it. It is on sale for I believe $459 on Prime. We use when we go tent camping for two weeks at a time! It powers my Keurig coffee machine while in the woods, charges all our electronics as well as it can jumpstart our car. We have had it for over 2 years now and cannot speak highly enough about it.

My son has a Jackery with less power and wishes he bought one of these instead. The same power on a Jackery would be well over $1000.

Hope this helps!

I appreciate it. We bought a Jackery back in 2018 and wound up returning it for a blend of issues. Mainly, the first unit we got didn't work at all and was missing the optional solar panel we'd purchased. The second unit had working USB ports, but nothing else would work...and the solar panel was canceled because apparently everything they had in stock was damaged. So, we gave up on the idea for a while. I was pricing Bluetti and ECOFLOW models since both are popular and supposedly better battery life. I was looking at models that were potentially powerful enough to run our chest freezer, fridge, microwave, or a portable a/c unit and tv. I know we'd have to invest in a much larger unit to power all at once, but we could make it work with a smaller unit with a prioritized charging plan if we get the solar panel and/or backup battery and use our vehicle outlets as emergency charging stations. Then I started seeing a number of reviews noting everything from item fulfillment issues (especially the solar panels) to not being able to return faulty units because it's considered HAZMAT...which isn't the case with Jackery.

I'll take a look at the VTOMAN. I can see that model is a Prime Day deal and the solar panel option appears to be available. We're looking for an option for storm related outages. Our area has been a chorus of generators for the last week, but I've seen so many issues with that more conventional route that I'd really like something solar...especially since we tend to have loads of sunshine after storms pass.

are you looking at the jackery brand? if so they are offering their own 'jackery prime day deals' on their website so if there's an issue you are dealing directly with the manufacturer-no middle man (they are also doing a price match guarantee).

I appreciate it. Trying to avoid Jackery since we've already had to return a couple in the past, but they are one of several brands in Prime Day deals.

We do have a solar panel for it, but haven’t used it yet so I really can’t say how effective that is or how fast it charges. We usually just recharge it in the car when camping. It has, however, worked great for us and I love that it can run small appliances like a coffee maker or crockpot, fan, etc.. Considering a Jackery (which my son does have (smaller unit) in the house) is about $1500 for the same power, it is a great deal and we have been very happy with it.

We do have a regular gas powered portable generator for the house that is much larger for storm outages that we use so I am not sure how it would work in that situation. I would imagine running an ac or microwave would drain the battery pretty quickly and it does take a while to recharge fully.

That’s what we keep coming back to that’s keeping me from pulling the trigger. We’re probably better off with a traditional generator. Gas was really hard to come by for much of last week due to the widespread outages, so I’m leaning towards something that takes gasoline, propane, or natural gas. Ideally, we’d like a way to hook it to the gas line and the breaker box. The consideration…especially after adding in fuel costs, regular oil/filter changes during high usage periods, and routine maintenance…how many days would we need to be without power before we break even with something on this scale compared to just getting a hotel room as needed. Obviously there are non-monetary considerations as well.

I really appreciate the information and insights because it’s a big decision.

I bought an adapter I’ll need to complete my travel accessories; reasonably priced. Contemplating a traveling jewelry case.

Whenever I add things to my wishlists, I use the section to "add comment" to put in the current price. That way I know if things are REALLY a deal. I also use camelcamelcamel site though it isn't always super accurate.

I purchased some birthday and Christmas things for my son today but that's pretty much it so far.

This morning I had bought a mouse pad and a travel guide book for Turkey but tonight I went back on Amazon and bought packing cubes, luggage tags and a collapsible duffel bag for my trip to Japan later this year. The additional bag is for all of the souvenirs I know I will be buying lol

Thanks for the free Amazon Prime trial, Bezos. As soon as it ends I'll be awaiting my next free trial like I've been doing for a while now.

DD19 been stalking Bose wireless noise cancellation headphones. Price dropped to $99 this morning. And in typical savy young person fashion, she cancelled a few minutes later and reordered the same thing from a new vendor / same price. First order was to arrive Thursday. Cancelled that as second showed up arriving (arrived!) today.

we will never break even with the cost vs. getting a hotel but i can tell you that if it's an area wide outage that being in a local hotel is no picnic-their generators are operating but not a meant for an extended load so dimmed lights/possible locked off washer/dryers and scary slow opening/closing elevator doors that have you running for the stairs. we did it with 2 kids for a week at one point-made that financial investment much more appealing (we are also on well water so without electricity we have no running water-if power goes out on us in the summer it's a fire risk, in the winter we risk all our pipes and our well pump freezing so it's an investment against potential property damage/loss).

i was tempted by a new slow cooker but the prime deal is the same as walmart's regular price. i went with walmart b/c they have a 90 day return window vs. amazon's.

A poster was recently looking for an air purifier and I’ve no idea if they found a worthy unit or not.

got some Mrs Meyers hand and dish soap Tomato Vine scented. Exciting purchase huh? Oh my other exciting purchase was some socks 😉. Seriously I got a good deal on a electric pump for my inflatable paddle boards

Just be aware of the Amazon Hangover when the credit card bill is due.

My first words to DH the other day was "Prime Day. Half of what I buy will probably be returned. Don't freak out at the bill or the boxes".

I am looking for clothes for my upcoming trip and I am between sizes due to weight loss - so I bought 2 of everything - one in the size I am moving out of, one of the size I am moving into.

Whenever I add things to my wishlists, I use the section to "add comment" to put in the current price. That way I know if things are REALLY a deal. I also use camelcamelcamel site though it isn't always super accurate.

Fricking genius! Thanks for this tip...

Tomato vine is my most favorite scent - I must go investigate now :)

Free is not even a good deal for crocs 😉

I wear Crocs (name brand as well as some fake ones that are actually more comfortable) as my "house shoes." I have RA so my feet feel better walking in shoes and I don't like wearing outdoor shoes indoors so hideous Crocs work perfectly. Ha!

i wear the knock-off fuzzy lined crocs as my garage and backyard deck shoes. if something gets splashed or spilled on them they wipe off easily, (for the outdoor pair) they don't get damaged when subjected to excessive sun/heat/snow, and they are wicked good for stepping on bugs :crazy2:
