This is ridiculous. I purchased a few last minute items with 2 day shipping through my Prime membership. Although, I received a message today, that some will arrive Tuesday, not today. So, I called customer service and reached a call center. (Not a joyful moment) The online information was repeated several times, "These items will be received on Tuesday". He added, the delivery service doesn't deliver on holidays. Um, TODAY is NOT a holiday...USPS ,UPS and FedEX ARE delivering on 12/24. Actually, I am receiving other items, that were ordered from Amazon on the same day! I informed customer service, that this was unacceptable. I was expecting the items BEFORE Christmas. I was told, Amazon was using alternative shipping (USPS) and it takes longer . Ugh! Why tell me two days when they mean seven?!?! This doesn't happen often, but it shouldn't happen at all. Sometimes, I have to pick up shipments from the post office because they are "too heavy" for the carrier. What?! I dhose delivery to my front door. ..NOT the post office.

I just received an update. My items will be delivered Wednesday...eight days after my order was placed.

BTW, customer service's remedy:

1) suck it up and get over it
2) wait until they decide to deliver my items
3) cancel my Prime Membership
4) accept a free month of Amazon Prime

I just want what I order and have it delivered when promised. Why isn't THAT an option?

Rant over.

Where is your package right now? Was it boxed and given to the shipping company, or hasn't it been shipped yet? If UPS/FedEx/whoever has it, it's not like Amazon can really do anything about that except get the package and personally drive it to your house.

They could drone it to her.
By the way, TL, Merry Christmas to you and yours. :santa:

It does suck, a lot. I don't mean to be flippant. But these things happen. Personally I'm just happy when stuff does appear in 2 days. It flummoxes me that they can get from there to here so quickly!

It's very frustrating. I'm waiting on one more gift for DH. It's supposed to be here via Amazon Prime by tonight at 8pm. I'm not thoroughly convinced it will make it as there haven't been ANY shipping updates.

I should've ordered earlier to avoid this (I know it's always risky so close to Christmas). I'll be upset if it doesn't arrive today but it won't be the end of the world for us since it's not a gift for a child. DH will understand but I'm with you - if you say 2 days, that's what it should be.

Prime doesn't always mean 2 day. A lot of times there will be a little disclaimer that something won't ship for X-amount of days until X-amount of days, it's easy to miss. That said, once it leaves Amazon it's out of their hands and if it's blundered they always try to make it right. The offer of a month of free Prime is their way of trying to make it right. It's disappointing but it sounds to me like they're trying.

That just sux and is really frustrating. Is it something you can buy locally and just cancel the order?

Also, did you buy the item directly from Amazon? Sometimes there are other vendors on Amazon who offer prime service once it ships but it may not ship immediately. When you placed the order, did the description include the shipping estimate? A couple of times I caught myself ordering something that wouldn't ship for several days and in once instance weeks - I ended up cancelling those.

After last year, I've learned to be VERY careful with Amazon close to shipping. I did notice this year that they have gotten better about letting you know if you will receive it or not.

There were a few things I ordered on the 21st that I needed by Christmas. One item I wanted, even with 2 day shipping, was clear that even though they would give 2-day shipping it would not arrive before Christmas. This has to do with the fulfillment part. Whatever it was, it could not be pulled off the shelf and immediately shipped. Two other items could be shipped right away and when I ordered, in green font, it said "Arrives before Christmas" or something to that effect and I got both of those things yesterday.

Did your order state that it would arrive before Christmas?

Yes, the two day shipping part means two days from when it is boxed and turned over to the carrier. it is important to read when ordering if it may take 2-3 days to fulfill the order. We have had this happen to us as well.

They weren't even shipped, until today. I received that tidbit, AFTER my phone conversation this morning. I would be happy if UPS or FedEx had the packages. Chances are, they would arrive on time. USPS ALWAYS takes longer, so I don't know, why they ship Prime items with them.

BTW, I received a package this morning from GERMANY. It was delivered in eights days...same time frame Amazon Prime 2 day... I wasn't expecting it, until next week.

Sorry your packages didn't arrive on time. It's super frustrating.

My stepdad's presents are floating in Amazon Prime Limbo as well. It's a bummer. I feel badly showing up with nothing for him tonight.

I don't get it. Package was supposed to be delivered yesterday. The package was about 35 miles away by car at 12AM on Tuesday 12/22. I would have driven and picked it up had I known it would come to me by way of pony express. That's on Fed Ex, though. Not Amazon.

But, that's not what it said. I do a LOT of shopping with Amazon, I know, the difference between shipping methods. I was given an arrival date for today.

this is the new prime service...IMHO one of the reasons I felt like it wasn't worth paying for any longer (and I really like Amazon) it used to be that any day but a Sunday counted as a delivery day,now it's 2 full weekend days, plus any vagaries of holiday calendars added in....

Thanks you very much! Merry Christmas to you, the wife and kids too! :goodvibes

Ha! You think like DH! He wanted to know, why the damn drones couldn't bring it. I don't know. Maybe because of theft, being used for target practice or increased reports of UFO sightings? :lmao:

I ordered something on the 14th. 3-5 day shipping. I won't get it till the 26th. DHL SUCKS. I will never order anything from Overstock again. Amazon is always, for me, on time and accurate.

Today..I ❤️ DHL! I was expecting, at least, two weeks for shipping, plus a couple of days to fulfill my order. My package even made it in and out of customs in one day.

We have been having a similar issue with Amazon. We bought a Kindle for my DD for Xmas and when my husband was trying to set it up Sunday it wasn't working right. He called Sunday night for support and they said he would get a call back within 48 hours with a resolution. He had to call them yesterday and found out nothing was done with the support ticket and they would be shipping a new tablet that would arrive on Saturday. Needless to say my husband came unglued and got escalated to a manager. He asked the manager if she was going to call my DD (2) and explain to her why her gift from Santa didn't work and she had to wait until Saturday for a new one. If they had done something with the ticket on Monday or Tuesday they could have had a new tablet here on time. She hung up on DH, but looking at his Prime order history a new tablet is supposed to be delivered today.

It sucks. I think it's just something that happens when we wait until this close to Christmas to order.

I had TRU cancel my order of in stock items a few days ago. They waited a week to inform me though.

I try not to order anything after December 15. Even with Prime, it can take 3-5 days to receive an order and I live less than 5 miles from an Amazon fulfillment center.
