Amazon Prices?

I'm finding many of the prices on Amazon to be crazy high as compared to similar items at many other stores. For example, I ordered a Barbie Vacation House for dd for 35.00 from Wal-Mart. On Amazon, the very same item is listed for 79.95. I don't get it...this phenomenon seems to happen a lot....why are some of Amazon's prices so high?

...on other items, they are pretty comparable give or take a few dollars...

Are they sold by Amazon or 3rd party sellers? For me, I've found Amazon to be considerably cheaper but ONLY on Amazon sold items. Any time I've looked at things sold via Amazon by another seller it is either ridiculously high or pretty much comparable (and then you almost always pay shipping so that drives it up...)

the barbie house was 34.95 earlier yesterday on amazon I was looking at it but none of my girls play with barbies so I passed. Their prices are all over the place this time of year on amazon. One hour it can be 100 the next 20 the next 50... I have done 90% of my shopping on amazon this year. With the free prime trial I can order one thing at a time if I want... it has been awesome! Must keep my prime membership! I am in love with it! I was at walmart last night and their prices are insane in the store some of the stuff I got on amazon for 12.99 is 34.99 there!

Like the previous poster stated, most likely it is a third party seller, not amazon. Amazon's prices are usually very reasonable, if not lower than most other stores. Plus they almost always have free shipping on a $25 order. However, you have to be very careful that the product you are looking to buy is sold by amazon and not a third party (many of which have crazy high prices and even crazier high shipping charges!).
