Amazon Fire Stick

I got an e-mail from Amazon that my delivery date has been moved up from 12/2 to November 24th! excited to get it, I was watching a review with video from a Tech website last night and it looks pretty cool, can't wait to try it out.

Thanks to this board I saw the post about it and was able to order one before noon the first day Prime Members could preorder @ $19. Thanks DISers.

Ours should be here tomorrow. I kinda wish I had ordered 2 when they were on sale.

thanks Dis'ers, for the heads up on this find, btw.

Woo hoo! Now mine is supposed to be here by Monday!

Mine came in today!

I would like to tell y'all about it, but I can't. It's updating the software. :rotfl:

Ok, it took me a few minutes to figure it out.

The stick needs to be within a certain range of the tiny remote. Can't have the tv blocking the stick/remote connection (I had it plugged in behind the tv at first). Need to have an electric plug available, to plug the fire stick in.

The remote is tiny and I had to play with the batteries a bit to get it to work.

To get started, it tells you what button to push.

At some point you have to push the big button inside the top "circle" to really get going. That threw me for a minute---no directions to do it, the stick just sat waiting. Entered the wifi information, then the stick looked for updates...then updated.

Fifteen minutes later, I had to reenter the wifi info. Watched a short video about the stick, then got to play. I got onto the Netflix app and got logged in there, and updated my Prime music. Haven't watched anything on it yet, but it is working just like our PS3 does. (which is good, because I'm babying that thing along, hoping for Gamestop to do a double turn in amount on the system, so I can get $100-150 for it, and put that on a PS4).

My stick is behind the tv and there doesn't need to be line of sight for it to work. I just stood in the hall to push pause and it worked. It's odd that yours doesn't work that way. Maybe your remote is a dud?:confused3

I got my Fire Stick yesterday. The only thing I had trouble with was opening the remote to put the batteries in, but my DD10 helped me there. :thumbsup2

My HDMI port is behind the TV and did not have any trouble with that and the remote. Plugged it in, it updated for a few minutes, watched the little video and easy peasey. I do not have Netflix anymore, but do have Prime, so listened to music and watched TV. I also entered my account info into Pandora, Crackle and PBS Kids and Video and all worked great. This was the best 19.99 spent ever. I wish I had gotten two.

I got mine on black friday and love it. At first I got the ChromeCast but really hated having to control it all from my phone. So took it back and got the stick. Would definitely recommend!

Love mine too and am kicking myself that I did not order 2 when they were $19.99

Ours came yesterday and hubby went right to work setting it up lol. Men and their toys. So far really like it much better than our old dvd player. Gonna play with it some more today but so far so good! Also hubby set up a screen saver to show pictures on our network. Thought that was pretty cool

Apparently mine was moved up from January 5th, because its now sitting here at work with me LOL.

wish I had ordered when they were $19. We didn't need one but of course now our smart tv apps are not working suddenly and we can't watch our prime shows in our bedroom. grrrrr:headache:
