Amazon.com promoting cruelty?!?

I just read this in my Humane Society newsletter and I am appalled. I was an Amazon customer but not any more. Animal lovers unite- boycott Amazon.

the HSUS group does have ties to PETA - http://www.dogomania.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16164

I checked the ASPCA, there is no mention of this Amazon campaign there.

I never said animal fighting was good, personally I am against that.

I'm just saying that if it was a huge issue: Shouldn't the ASPCA be involved as well?

I'm not familiar with magazines but both are on ebay too. So I guess you are boycotting them too

Interesting that since cockfighting is illegal that the magazines themselves are allowed to be published and distributed throughout the USA. Is cockfighting illegal in all US states? I know it is illegal here in TX, but it remains a popular "sport" throughout our area.

Since it is apparently legal to distribute and sell the magazines, I have no qualms with Amazon carrying the product, as much as I disagree with cockfighting and dog fighting itself.

It is only legal here in Louisiana and New Mexico. Every year there is some sort of bill introduced here to make it illegal and we have a cpl of redneck coonass backwards leaders that are pro **** fighting. Democratic Senator Mike Smith
chair of our Agriculture, Forestry, Aquaculture, and Rural Development Committee is pro cockfighting from what i understand. Just another crappy thing about the state of Louisiana. Also Sen Nick Gautreaux of Abbeville district has intrests in cockfighting. He helped defeat the last bill back in May of 06. It was defeated by a vote of 21-16 Its big money around here lots of dollars change hand over this and we have some powerful people wanting to protect their interests.

Oh yeah most of us hate it. Its funny I grew up in cajun county ( Sen. Gauthreaux's stomping grounds) and cockfighting was HUGE. I never attended a fight, but know lots of folks that did. It was the thing to do, go get drunk at the fights.

I'm so disappointed that amazon sells these magazines. I'm going to write to them and express my concerns about it. The more people who tell amazon they are offended, the better chance that amazon will stop selling the magazines. So if y'all could take a few minutes and send an email to amazon, that would be great!
