Amazon has a deal where if you order by today you will get the new Harry Potter book delivered to your door Saturday. That sounds better than waiting at some idiotic book party at midnight the night before! Plus if you don't get it 6/21 it's free.
So I ordered 5/28. Yesterday I got a note from Amazon (note that 3 weeks passed) saying my CC had an invalid exp. date. I typed it in wrong. I had another CC by the computer and changed the card. Lo and behold, my delivery date changed from 6/21 to "between 6/26 and 7/2"! Since we leave for our trip on the evening of the 27th that would not work--not to mention that DD#1 and I are both waiting for it!
I sent an EMail asking if it was a mistake--no, since I "modified" my order that was the delivery date. And the "get it that day or free" no longer applied.
So I cancelled it. Then I reordered it. Guess what? My new delivery date is 6/21!!!
Don't know why a brand new order is faster than a "modified' old order, but I guess you have to be smarter than Amazon!
