If you are interested in becoming a member of Audible.com and you agree to their $14.95/month yearlong plan, you can save $100 on many sponsored items at Amazon's website, including Kindles, iPods, etc. I was going to renew my Audible membership, which had lapsed after I took advantage of a free 6 month membership that came as a Special Offer from my Kindle with Special Offers, and when I visited the website I saw the promotion. I renewed my Audible membership and saved $100 on a Kindle Fire, making the Fire $99 instead of $199.

Actually I had already ordered a full price Fire for my daughter's Christmas present (the other daughter got one today for her 18th birthday) so I returned it via the local UPS store and ordered another one with the $100 off promotion. I an a Prime member so it will be here by Wednesday with free shipping.

I love Audible books, so it's nice to have the savings on the Fire as a bonus!!

I am interested in doing this. I've started to sign up for audible several times. How does the offer work though? Where is it on the site? I don't see anything about it. I don't want to sign up for the plan and not get the offer.

THANKS!

I had to get to it through a "work around" that the Amazon Customer Service rep explained to me. Search under "iPod Classic" on the Amazon website and choose the first one that comes up - I think it is the black one. On that product page, you will see the offer a little way down the page. I think it is a hyperlink that says something like "choose this special offer here" or something like that.

I had to follow that link, then join Audible - choose the option they give you of paying 14.95 a month, as that is the spcecial offer that qualifies you for the $100 off. Once you have processed that, you will get an email with a code. Be patient, I had to call Audible back because I didn't get the email right away and I thought it would come instantly. It actually took about an hour. Anyway, once you have the code, copy and paste it or write it down and then go select the item you want from Amazon. At checkout you'll be able to apply the code and that is where the $100 will be deducted.

Hope this makes sense!!! If not both Amazon and Audible CS was helpful.

I have been an audible member for a couple of years, and I love it. I was sure that since I'm already enrolled in the 14.95 a month plan the promo wouldn't work, but it looks like it did! I didn't currently have a membership commitment, but now I have to commit for 12 months, which I would do anyway. Thanks OP!:cool1:

Thanks for posting this. I'd thought about getting the $99 Kindle for myself, (got the Fire already as a gift) and had also thought about joining audible.

I waited forever for the gift code to come by email, and ended up calling audible's 24/7 no. and got it that way. Got the Kindle for free! And because I have Amazon Prime, it should be here in a few days.

Thanks again. :)

Thanks so much for posting this, DVCLiz! I used to belong to audible. I quit the service a few months ago...but have still been buying their audio books at a rate of about once per month without joining. This enticed me to join again and I look forward to receiving the code and doing some shopping!

Yeah, so many happy stories!!! lol I justified buying myself a Kindle Fire even though I have an iPad because it was "only" $99 with the promotion. I'm giving both daughters Fires for Christmas/birthday, but I wanted one too haha.

Glad so many of you could save and enjoy the audible books this year!

Did i miss it??

We did this for my daughters Itouch this spring and it turned out great we really love Audible.com!! so i thought i'd do the same and get myself a fire but still don't see the offer?? thanks so much for posting!!

Go in and search Amazon for iPod Classic. Select the first one on the list (this is the work around the Amazon CS rep told me on the phone when I called. There's nothing magical about this iPod - it's just the first one on the list and one of the products that has the Special Offer.) Once you select it, scroll down and you should see "Special Offers and Product Promotions." There should then be a link "Here's how to get the special offer." From that link you can get the information you need.

This offer is for the month to month 14.95 charge to your credit card, NOT the sign up for 149.95 and get a whole year's worth of credits at once like last year. I made that mistake of selecting the wrong plan and had to cancel it and join again in order to have the code sent to me.

Good luck! I don't know how long this promotion lasts but the offer is live as of right now.

:goodvibes Thanks DVCLiz! I cannot believe I'm finally getting a Kindle and a not just a Kindle but with the offer I'm getting a Fire!!

:goodvibesWow, I am starting to feel like Santa Claus!!!

It was very nice to get the offer on my new Fire. I have...ahem...several Kindles as well as an iPad 1, so it was hard to justify adding the Fire but getting it for only $99 made it a no-brainer.

Last night I stayed up until 3am watching half of Season Two of The Office on Hulu+ on my new Fire. I love the size of the Fire for late night TV and movie viewing. I have Hulu and Netflix accounts as well as Amazon Prime membership, so I will never run out of things to watch!!

My biggest peice of advice with this offer is to save all the documents/emails you get during the necessary transactions. I had a difficult time getting them to apply the savings to the iPod I purchased. It wouldn't let me do it on-line and I had to talk to three different people at Amazon to get the order in correctly.

When I went to cancel my audible membership at the end of the year they told me I had to return the device that I had purchased. I had a difficult time convincing them that I had in fact paid for 12 months of Audible. I grew so frustrated with them I just scanned a PDF in highlighting every months Audible order and emailed to them. They finally let me off the hook.

I'm not very tech savvy so I have a question about the audio books. If I get one once a month (which it appears you do except for a few greater than 1 credit) am I able to download it to more than one device? For example can I download it to my mobile phone (I looked--my phone is compatible), also my computer for listening on speakers, and then make a CD for my car of the book? That way I'm not locked it to listening to it only one way.

I'm sorry you had to go through that - clearly you had someone who was uninformed. It's ridiculous to even suggest that you would have to return the item you bought with the discount - where in the world did that CS rep think of that?:rotfl:

If you follow the directions on the website, choose the appropriate membership level from Audible, wait for your email, and apply the code properly when you purchase the item from Amazon, you shouldn't have any trouble at all.

I made a mistake ordering from Audible and the CS couldn't have been any nicer in canceling my first order and answering my questions. The Amazon site worked flawlessly and my $99 Kindle Fire will be here tomorrow!!

Sorry you had such a terrible time.

Yes, Audible is now owned bty Amazon, so all of my audio books are in my Kindle Archive. I can download and listen from any Kindle device I have.

Audible is also compatible with iTunes and all of my audiobooks are in my iTunes library, so I have them on my iPhone and a couple on my iPad as well.

And, of course, I can listen from my computer.

I don't know about burning CDs because I listen from my phone through a cable that plugs into the sound system of my car.

Thanks for the great info. If it will go into ITunes then I can burn a CD. I actually did it before and it worked. Shocked myself. Now to find an extra $100 right now at Christmas.

pushing this back to the front page to see if anyone has an answer -
what is the expiration on the $100 coupon?

When I got mine two years ago the promotion was over on January 31st. I would imagine they keep it a little longer so those with gift cards can subscribe too.
