AMAZING RACE 5 - Official Thread

Do you think C & C handed over all of their money?

I don't know, just a feeling I had when the camera was panning over their hands..... There wasn't a doubt in my mind that all the other teams that had to hand over money did....Just "something" with these 2...........

I thought it was funny when Christie was trying to "explain" to their cab driver how the other team didnt play fairly.
When she she held up her hand and said "they yielded us". Like the cab driver really gives a darn that they were "yielded"

Whatever!

I totally feel that this non-elimination leg was set up. I feel that C/C are "good" tv because of all their fighting. I had no idea that next week was the finale because there are usually 13 legs (always has been in past episodes) and this show was only the 11th leg.
In Amazing Race 4, for the 12th and 13th leg there were only 3 teams-Reichen/Chip, David/Jeff and Kelly/John. I remember becuase my favorite team, the clowns, was eliminated in the 11th leg and the 12th leg was a non-elimination leg.

I thought the camera showed their hands too. I wondered if Christy was hiding money or if they were just trying to show that SHE didn't have any. (ie another way Colin is abusive?) I figured there's no place in her little Texas bottom shorts for money. (Anyone else think those are a bit inappropriate for some of the countries she's visiting?)

Another comment that left me shaking my head was Nicole saying
God wanted her to win a million dollars. Um Hello? Didn't you just see people living in squalar and poverty? Why would God want you to have the money but others to live in poverty?

Last night was SUCH a good episode! I loved that Chip and Kim yielded C/C- HAHA! I was grinning from ear to ear; and the ox thing was priceless. Why didn't she do what the instructions said and HELP him? And I agree, she was totally out of line with the cab driver, telling him to go faster and "run people over."  Ugly American! In some ways I hope they DIDN'T give up all their cash, and then they get caught next week and get busted.

Linda and Karen were *bugging* me at the beginning of the episode, but I still like them. Just getting a tad too testy with each other- didn't like it.

Still love just about everything about Chip and Kim.

I agree about Nicole's comment about "God wanting them to have the money." Um, aren't you models? Don't you make a decent living? And as someone else said, looking at the squalor that people in other countries live in, it just seemed like a crass thing for her to say. But, she is quite young and naive, so I will take it with a grain of salt.

I don' t think that is what Nicole said exactly. I think she's basically saying God gave me enough talent to win this! Kinda like....wow! I could win this if I really try to use my ability! I don't at all think she meant "God wants me to win a million dollars." We'll have to wait and see next episode, though. I think B/N will win or place second against Chip/Kim. The moms are good but not fast enough. They are directionally challenged too. I can't see Chip/Kim sprinting ( on foot ) all out for a win, either. I'm not sure why...maybe because they always seem so calm next to everyone else! I think C/C are toast. I feel they'll get yielded again by B/N or the moms.

What a good episode though! :D

The same thing happened to the greatest AR team ever....Kevin & Drew were eliminated in 4th place with 3 teams going on to the last two legs.

I also thought it was a huge coincidence (sp?) that Colin & Christie missed their connection and lost what would have amounted to a 12 hour lead.

I think it'll be very interesting to see how C/C manage to get money to complete the next series of challenges. Colin just doesn't seem to be the most personable guy--no way would I give him money. I think he should try to interest someone in a boxing match!! Christie...hum, well she could always sell those tacky Texas shorts! (disykat, I too think it's inappropriate but I wouldn't even let my daughter wear them in the USA--that's a whole other thread  )

I hope that the best players win. True, that is Colin & Christie but if someone outwits them that would be cool too. I don't hate ANY of the teams because I keep in mind that clever editing often makes people who they seem to be.

What exactly are "Texas shorts"? I haven't really noticed what Christie is wearing.

Christie wears really short shorts that have TEXAS written across the boot.

I can already see them now. Colin screaming to all the locals that they have to give him money and Christie whining that everyone is being unfair to her.

LOL, you can see how much attention I pay to clothing.

Colin and Christie are usually very smart and I don't think that they'll have any trouble finding money. Their problem will be being in last place, a place that they're not used to. If they can come back from this, creepy or not, I think that they deserve to win for their gameplay.

Once again, I totally agree with you. They have definitely played the best.....so far. As arrogant as they were in the car at the beginning, they were right. They haven't made the stupid mistakes that many of the other teams have. I can't wait for next week! :hyper:

I think Colin and Christie will be gone next. One of the other two teams will probably Yield them again--unless they catch up at the airport before the next roadblock.

I think C/C plowing with the ox was the best thing on tv this year! You can't write lines as funny as, "My ox is broke." I SO wanted them out this week though.

I wonder how far behind C/C checked into the pit stop? The other teams seemed to have checked in fairly close together, although with the editing who knows???
I also would not mind who wins as long as its not C/C. They both get on my nerves.

Put me on the list of people who want to see Colin and Christie gone too. I was so upset that it was a non-elim round. Christie was starting to show signs of Colin rubbing off on her when she was whining after they were at the end of the pack. Why do they think someone using a Yield is unfair:confused: It's put in the game for a reason.
The moms are looking like they are going to lose it pretty soon.
Next week is going to be interesting.

I agree. She said something like, "I believe the Lord has given me everything I need to win this race". I also took it to mean that she realized that she has the ability and that it is hers (and Brandon's) race to win or lose.

It will be interesting to see how coming into the pit stop last affects C&C. I think it could go either way, making them that much more determined to win it or putting enough doubt in their minds that they make the little mistakes they were getting on the other teams about.
