Looking at Google maps, it appears that it's quite a walk from the PPH to the Disney park. Is there a better way to get there? I might be spoiled after having stayed across the street from the main gate last spring.
Darn. I knew I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up... For some reason our dates are so busy.. there isn't really even availability, much less deals....
9/18-9/23. Expedia doesn't even show availability on all of our dates unless you get a suite or something... although getawaytoday will still let you buy packages, so I am guessing they have rooms set aside for their customers.

Yes, there is a great way to get to the parks! Exit the PPH and cross Disneyland Drive. Then go in through the Grand Californian. If you're going to CA Adventure, the GCH has a private entrance right into the park by Grizzly River Run--just follow the signs.
If you're going to DL, follow the signs to Disneyland Park/GCH Conference Center and it'll take you to an entrance into Downtown Disney right by the Sephora store. From there, it's just a short walk to the entrance plaza. It's really not too bad of a walk at all.
Your third option is to exit the back of the PPH and go through the Disneyland Hotel grounds, staying to the right of the Dreams Tower (opposite side of the tower from the pool) and then either walking all the way through DTD (the longest route) or hopping on the monorail into Tomorrowland.
I checked our dates in October and was quoted $100 even per night plust taxes and the resort fee for a total of $525 or $131/nt I actually have another hotel reserved just across the street from the entrance ( Best Western Anaheim Inn) for a total cost of $409 for the same dates. My question is, is it worth an extra $116 to stay at the PPH? Last April we stayed at the best western and was happy with the location. Just not sure about PPH. Any Advice?
No advice, I am in the same situation as you. We have 4 nights booked at the Best Western Anaheim Inn in October. But we could switch to PPH for around $120 more. This was supposed to be a budget trip, but I'm soooo tempted. Decisions, decisions.... I will be interested to see what you decide to do. What are your dates in October?
Ahhh! I did it! I booked 2 rooms at the $100 rate. I was a little bummed because yesterday I was getting 5 days to come up, and today I could only get the $100 for 4 days at a time. But, I did find a coupon code 09AUG10 that took off $10 a night!

I had HoJos at Entertainment rate for an 11 nights stay. It was about $ 200 per person plus resort fee for us extra.
I checked with my room mate - we're both on budget. She was a bit concerned about the walk on Harbor. I told her it's okay, but she felt more comfortable walking back through DTD.
Add the Magic Mornings in to that, and that was enough for us to switch.
The $100 rates are also available on travelocity and hotels.com, but it seems to come up only when you are booking 4 nights.
edit: just looked again and now rates are back up

Wow! Thanks for this tip! When I enter just four nights instead of three, the great rates pop up for my dates again. Of course, now I need to figure out the best course for tacking on the fifth night. So odd that the deal doesn't extend to booking one or two extra nights!

I can't thank you enough for posting this. We had our trip planned for December 1 - 4 (three nights...we're heading down to San Diego after DL) and were going to try out HoJo. I plugged our dates into Expedia and got the $100 rate...by adding another day on to our trip. So now we get an extra day at the park and we get to stay on property. Yay!
