Amazing Adventures of the 2013 Disney Moms Panel Search

at least this year I'll be able to distract myself with some Disney while I wait. I still have to plan and pack and sew.

LUCKY! Unfortunately I do not have a Disney vacation to distract me (though I'm still pushing for one before the end of the year!). But my friends are going in less than a month and my wedding is coming up so I have a bit of a distraction ;)

I have a picture of the Dole Whip Menu at Aloha Isle but I have no idea how to post it...
Anyway, it says nothing about ice cream. I also answered Pineapple. Now I'm driving myself crazy again!!

Yes. Thank you. Sorry. Newbie. Did anyone else apply for DVC? Am I by my lonelies?

I applied for DVC too. I'm a newbie also, I guess we'll soon see how this all plays out.

Good luck to you!

Ugh! This same thing happened to me last year with another question that could be interpreted two different ways. I feel like I'm already out before it even begins! I thought because the sign at Aloha Island says Dole Whip Soft Serve and has flavors pineapple, vanilla or swirl written underneath it, that they meant soft serve since there is more than one flavor. Oh well this is my sixth year applying so maybe next year will be lucky number seven! It's always great to see some fellow DISers make the panel, so I'll be routing from the side lines!!!!

This is an actual photo. My interpretation is that it is soft serve, and pineapple would be the ingredient to make it special, but I can see it both ways and wish it had been a better worded question.

Thinking good thoughts for everyone. Now, I'm going to stop obsessively reading the boards and go for a run to work of some of this nervous energy.

I mean really, if I'm this crazy nervous/excited now how am I going to last? :hyper:

I'm also concerned about the dole whip question :worried:(I answered pineapple). However, I don't understand how soft serve could be the answer, because soft serve is not an ingredient....it is a "type" of ice cream or sorbet. Although, if they are trying to be tricky, soft serve could very well be the answer.

edit: here is a list of ingredients and a description of the product. I am even more confused now as to what the correct answer would be.

Whether you picked soft serve or pineapple, I think it is all good. The wording leads me to believe it was more of a subjective question. All I know is that a serving is only 80 little, fat-free calories, and I love them!

Besides, what makes them so special is that you can only get them at a Disney Park or Resort!:cheer2:

Just submitted for the 4th time! I made it to round 2 my first year but no luck since. Sign.... now the wait! PIXIE Dust everyone!pixiedust:

I love that they are dairy free. 80 calories doesn't hurt.

Just curious, when was this taken? The menu here http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningdetail.cfm?restaurant.id=192 says it was updated 9/12, and it refers to the dole whip soft serve as "ice cream." I'm not sure if that's something that was added by whomever transcribed the menu, or if the sign was changed since you took the picture...

My first ever Mom's panel application is submitted. Nothing to do but wait. But, I think I understand how some applicants are elminated, please someone tell me if I'm correct. One wrong multiple choice or typo and your out. Well, at least, if not chosen, I can join Mickey's Moms Club, and I'll be at the Magic Kingdom on November 26 - dining at Be Our Guest. Best wishes to everyone!!!! I chose pineapple...LOL

Actually you can get them in Hawaii as well! It was one of the nice little surprises I had on our trip this summer. :thumbsup2

I submitted my app this morning, maybe fourth time will be the charm? Good luck to everyone, here's hoping we see lots of us in December for training. :cheer2:

Submitted! I was at 101 words...hardest part was rewording in such a way to lose that last word.

What kinds of things have set essays apart in the past? My girlfriend mentioned they were looking for funny. I definetly was not.

I answered "pineapple" for the Dole Whip and "2008" for when I first heard about the panel.

Fingers, toes, mouse ears crossed.

I can't take credit for the photo, but it was taken last fall after the prices went up. I think wdwinfo added the label "ice cream" as a description. I found photos on some sites from before the price increase last fall. The wording "Dole Whip Soft Serve" on the sign is exactly the same in the older and newer photos; only the price is different (and the option of orange is relatively new--pineapple, vanilla, and swirl used to be the only choices for the Dole Whip Soft Serve).

I've submitted my application. Again. Maybe THIS will be my year...though 2012 so far hasn't been so great. ;) Best of luck to everyone! I picked 'pineapple'.

Yes! In Hawaii, and now you can also get it at Menchie's, the fro-yo place, as well as some other locations...

well it wouldn't be a Dole Whip without the soft serve. Pineapple is not actually in it, just the juice.

Where can I get a Dole Whip in Disneyland when I go in 16 days ?

Not sure if someone already answered this for you, but there is a kiosk right in front of the Enchanted Tiki Room, which is serviced on both the outside and inside of the queue. I'd recommend going through the turnstile and ordering on that side (shorter wait).

The Dole Whip floats there are FANCY :D with tiny umbrellas and a cherry!

Well...maybe what makes a Dole Whip special is what makes it special to you! Ice cream is special. Lactose free soft serve is special. Personally, I think super cold pineapple juice combined with luscious soft serve is really really special! I prefer not to mess with the original, and when I say original I mean the Dole Whip from the Dole Plantation on the island of Oahu...which is essentially the same thing that is served at Aloha Isle minus the extra choices. So, to me, what makes it special, is the pineapple.

But mostly because I make a really nifty Pineapple Princess, if I may say so myself :p and I can post fantabulous pictures like this one of me at the plantation! :thumbsup2

I'm going to quit obsessing about the Dole Whip question and just enjoy one at WDW in a few weeks when we visit! That question makes me feel like I'm taking a standardized test again!

To change the subject, I applied for WDW panel this time, as opposed to RunDisney (last year) based on the criteria. Did others change the category for which they applied from last year? I thought about DVC, but given I haven't done an Adventures by Disney and I've only been a member for a few years, I didn't think that made sense. Just curious as to others as to their thoughts on the category of applications. It's fun nonetheless!
